Professor Wall is the ONLY teacher you should take Shakespeare with. She genuinely loves the material, and she will kick your butt and call you out if she knows you didn't put in the work, and if you don't put in the work, believe me, she will know. Her lectures are amazing, and her tests are very challenging.

DO NOT TAKE SHAKESPEARE WITH ANYBODY ELSE. Love her or hate her, she is almost unanimously regarded as the only professor you should take Shakespeare with at Fresno State. She will kick your butt, but you will learn so much. Her lectures are amazing and she's absolutely lovely, but she's hard as butts.

Her tests are tough, but she grades them easy. They take all two hours of the class time and sometimes you may need even more. She means well, she's very adorable and cute. Her love for Shakespeare makes me love Shakespeare too. She enthusiastic about everything Shakespeare and I adored it!

It is a great course. While you are majoring in English you play the part of the enthusiastic Anglophile. With the focus on new world order, she can't remember anyone much longer than 4 semesters. They're all that way--they can't see but up the masonic pyramid.

Comment:
Very Articulate, Expressive, Enthusiastic. Do not take her if you don't expect to read/participate. Dr. Wall appreciates your reciprocated interest for Shakespeare or w/e subject you're studying, but don't expect to change her mind much. If you must give your own op, back it up w/ evidence. Highly emotional, so try not to be unnecessarily mean.

Tough prof, but I took her for Shakespeare, Ancient Lit, and Comedy--and got As in all three. You have to do the reading and the work in her class, with actual effort. Wanna slack? Don't take her.

The least organized, most scatterbrained, and frustrating prof in the dept. She lacks clarity in her assignments (prompts are a nightmare) and then she grades papers without a discernible scale. An ex-actress with plenty of enthusiasm (re: emotion) for theater, but a questionable hold on "literature" and analysis. Take 189 with anyone else.

This was my second class with her and had a better experience. She is tough and will call you out. Worst professor I've had but I managed to pass. Always do your readings and always have something to say--otherwise you are screwed.

Dr. Wall is one of the smartest professors I've ever had. She knows her stuff, for sure. However! She is totally unwilling to help and unwilling to entertain any other opinions except her own. I was docked on a paper because my opinion didn't match up with the one SHE had. She even told me in the grade notes. I would never, ever take her again.

Don't sign up for a class with Prof. Wall if you're just trying to knock out a class, do it only if you genuinely love the material. She is very intelligent and you can see how much she loves the readings in her lectures. She assigns a lot of reading and sometimes she gets off track, but so long as you're a good reader you will have a lot of fun.

Tough as nail, in my opinion. That isn't to say she is unfair. She has a clear and burning passion for what she does. Don't come to class and argue a half-baked idea. She will tear it apart. Don't half ass your essays. She will tear them apart as well. If you love English and aren't scared of a challenge, I would highly recommend. DO NOT SLACK OFF!

Hands down one of the rudest professors I have had. She has great knowledge of Lit and expects her students to that high caliber. Every answer you give comes back with a smart reply contradicting your own opinion (which she says everyone has in Lit, but doesn't listen to). Don't try to seek help because in the end she won't care.

Horribly rude professor! She keeps saying she will help but turns out everything you say to her is wrong. She designs the course so that you don't pass and that there is a ridiculous amount of reading. I love literature but this is enough to not anymore.

Second time with her as a prof and she is incredibly passionate about her subject. Super through, but fair warning--READ THE TEXT, TAKE NOTES, SHOW UP. She is happy to help you after class/office hours, but she grades you based on your knowledge.

My advice to anyone taking Dr. Wall, two things: ALWAYS do the reading, and have something to say. She will call on people at random, so no one is safe. You might as well save yourself the trouble of hiding behind your text book and speak up. She will appreciate it. Don't skip classes with her, every class is important. She is an awesome teacher!

Dr. Wall is one of the best professor's at Fresno State. She recognizes most people taking this class are not english majors, she is very fair and doesn't expect you to recite Shakespeare. What I thought would be very hard turned out to be not as hard as I thought. Highly recommend this to fill an upper division requirement.

I have had Dr. Wall for both Engl 189 and 31, this is all I will say... She loves what she teaches and knows FAR too much about the subject matter. She is passionate and that is rare in a professor now. Try hard because her classes aren't easy but she is one of the sweetest, most compassionate people you will EVER meet.

Go to class, listen, you'll get a good grade. All questions on the tests she talks about in class. So pay attention to the plays, you'll be fine. It's not an easy A, but a fair and manageable A. Don't have a bad attitude because you actually have to earn your grade in this class. If you find her too difficult you should consider changing your major

She is a really difficult professor. You can tell she knows her Shakespeare but she talks in circles and hard to follow. The most difficult English class I've ever taken, Midterm and final are ridiculous. You have to memorize basically everything you read for them. Really tough grader too!

Comment:
I took 189 and 193T (world drama) with Wall. She LOVES drama and is very passionate about both, which makes class more interesting. 189 was not difficult at all, but I hated 193T just for the subject matter. Her tests are pretty demanding, but papers are easy. She is not always fair with grading, as views different than hers are not accepted.
