Dr. Lasseigne is a super smart guy. First day of class he told us how hard the class is and he was not wrong. In order to pass this class you have to put the time and effort into it. The labs are a huge help so I highly recommend completing those before the exams. He has plenty of negative reviews on here but its just the difficulty of the class.

As a math major, I will say that this guy is one of the worst math professors I've ever had the displeasure of taking. He's very condescending, boasts how over 50% of people fail his classes, and views Calc 2 as a weed-out course. He provided little-to-no help throughout the course and rarely taught things the way any book did. Avoid at all costs!

He is a really smart guy just really bad at teaching. You are told everything you knew is wrong and he will make everything far more difficult than necessary. He is not afraid to make fun of students and make them feel poorly about their grades infront of the class. Be ready to spend all the time you have in your life if you want to pass this class

Very smart guy, although condescending at times. He expects you to only work on his class no matter your other course loads. You need to be able to time manage very well if you expect to pass his class at all. 87% of your grade is comprised of 3 tests and a final. He views his class as a weed out class. He will make you work hard for your grade.

this man sounds like mrs. fowl from jimmy neutron when he lectures. he cannot effectively explain the concepts and is extremely unprofessional and condecending when you ask questions about what he means. when i took his class he gave us no quizzes or hwk during the unit 2 test and made us take a test. anyway 10/10 would not reccomend.

he teaches things the way he would do them instead of how the book would, which may not be very helpful to others. Your grade depends of how much work you do outside the the work he assigns.

If you took Calculus in high school, did very well, & are in an engineering program, take him; his lectures will be relevant to your career. If you struggled through PreCalc & aren't in engineering, DO NOT take him. He sees this course as a weed-out class & isn't interested in helping students through what he sees as "basic knowledge". Exams suck.

I took this course over the summer, and it was mostly self teaching. He doesn't like the textbook way of doing things so he teaches you his way. He makes his tests very hard. It is unclear during lecture what he will put on the test. I would study all the topics we had learned and the test would be two topics over and over again.

Professor Lasseigne is a tough grader. He doesn't teach how the book teaches you, but instead how HE would do it himself. I used YouTube a lot for this class. If you can avoid this professor for Math.

He doesn't like to use the book much starting from the first day. You better hope no snow days come or that you miss any lectures. We did and he made all the labs take home and didn't talk about them for the rest of the semester, which kinda sucked cause they're 12.5% of our grade. He went over labs, AFTER the test date. Would've been nice.

If you are a math major, maybe take his class. His style of teaching is sole memorization of what he thinks is important. He is a fair grader, but the material is difficult. I go to three tutors, who are graduate math and engineer majors, who struggle with his methods. The textbook helps with extra problems for practice. Would not recommend.

Dr. Lasseigne gave fantastic lectures and was very entertaining. His tests were very long and challenging but his grading was very lenient and he curved tests. I have taken four semesters of upper level math at ODU and liked this class the most. My one critique is that he is disorganized and did not give us a course schedule. Do not skip class!

Professor Lasseigne is a professor who is willing to help if you ask; though the book will be your best friend. He is a tough grader when it comes to algebra mistakes, otherwise I believe he is fair. The hardest thing about the tests is the amount of material to remember. You will have to work all the problems in the book more than once.

If you don't do things the way he wants them done EXACTLY on an exam you will get points deducted. No calculators allowed, which shifts the focus from solely diff eq principles to A LOT of algebra and linear algebra principles. I found this to detract from the point of the class. Also be prepared for exams with close to 20 questions each.

He is extremely smart, which is partly why he is a horrible teacher. He assumes everyone in the class is a genius math major who only focuses on his class. He will write a problem on the board that should normally have 10-15 steps to get to the answer, but he will only write out 1/4 of those steps. I had to find help elsewhere, DO NOT TAKE.

I had him and I love his class. If you understand what he talks about you will be fine in class. There is no point in taking shortcuts like he says, so he makes you work for your grade. If you really want to learn math and not half ass your education take his class. If you want an easy class, take someone else. He wants you to learn the concept.
