READ YOUR TEXTBOOK and lab procedures. Quizzes are difficult at times. He will answer any questions and appreciates participation in lecture. Tough grader but gives great feedback. He pushes you to think outside the box. I would recommend him to anyone who is willing to work hard! I ended up loving his class!!

Horrible professor! Although Im not a science major, I had to take this course. I ended up dropping because he walked by me struggling and I asked for his help but apparently thats not his job. I do not recommend taking him!

I did not like him as a person but I can tell he knows his stuff. He has his picks also, his tone can be rude. He does gives a lot of bonus points and records his lectures.

Amazing professor! Very student friendly. I recommend to print out his lecture outlines and write down the details he hints on! All I had to do was study my notes and I did really good in there!

Comment:

Genetics is no walk in the park. You definitely need to do the homework (expect it every night), and studying is a necessity. If you go to class, interact with him, and ask questions, you will do fine. It's also a plus his classes are recorded! He's a very sweet guy and you can tell he truly cares about what he teaches. Happy I took this class!

Great Professor! Lectures andTest are straight forward and if you ask he's there to help. Test have essays question that come from the HW so if you correct and learn the HW assignments then you'll be good to go. Gives Socrative quizzes daily which require studying each lectures notes (main downfall). SI is veryyyy helpful! Cares about his students!

It honestly was not that hard of a class if you study. I could have earned an A if I stayed focused. He records his lectures and posts lecture outlines on BB. If you study the homework, you pass the essay questions of the test. He is VERY particular about wording on the homework and this will frustrate you. You will learn A LOT more in SI, though.

He was such an amazing professor. He honestly cares for his students, but he expects the best out of his students. He is honestly the most caring professor I have had so far. Tests are tough, but doable. Biology WILL be your number 1 priority.

Good Bio 101 professor. Study the notes, re-watch lectures for "know this" remarks, and for gods sake go to SI. Tests are touch but fair. Lots of opportunities to earn extra points. Beware of Secretive quiz, it requires daily studying/review of previous lectures material.

I do not like him as a person but he is a pretty decent professor. Study all of your homework questions for the essay portion on tests and listen for repeated phrases. Those will be on the test. Go to SI, that is the best way to actually learn in this class and read the textbook. He gives extra credit and bonus questions on tests.

Comment:

Dr. Labanick is the BEST. As a non-science major, Genetics and Society was the best class because he explains everything thoroughly but doesn't overload you. He's funny and really nice, and does everything he can to help your grade. Really wants you to succeed and enjoy his class. Homework every class, but it's easy and helpful.

This class was detailed and difficult, but definitely passable in comparison to the other 500 level classes. Just study. Study. Study. Study. And you can pull a C or B easily. Good prof. but way too difficult on grading certain assignments on top of a load of material. Recommended, but just be careful.

Really nice Guy! wish I could take him again.His classes are recorded w/power points & gives you the outline!Re-watching the lecture comes in handy when studying for the test! test are easy & if there is a mistake on it he will fix it w/no problem usually MC w/sht answers & always has extra credit on them!some ?'s are even word 4 word from video!

Hes super easy. If you pay attention and do the homework you will get an A. He is probably the easiest professor I have ever had. He is very clear on what will be on the test and what he expects from you. He puts out study guides... He also gives extra credit. Also SI helps ALOT.

AWESOME professor. Extremely helpful and very entertaining. He's fun to listen to and isn't too bad on the eyes, either. Highly recommend taking his course!
