Professor Smith is Amazing! Video editing is not my forte, however, I learned so much in this class. Do the work, & show you're passionate. It was one of the most difficult classes I've taken, just give all of your assignments 110%. Turn all assignments in on time. Do what you're supposed to do & you will pass!

My favorite professor in the School of Comm. You can see the passion he has for the field. I noticed a dramatic improvement within broadcast writing. I don't understand why there are so many negative comments about him. It's not an easy class, however, put in the work and give it your all and you will do great! Professor Smith, you're the best!

The class is very quickly paced and relies heavily on participation and projects. "Quizzes" are based on the textbooks (one of which he wrote and still expects you to buy). He also wants you to buy a $60 portable hard drive and $15 SD card for getting video. The class united against him by the end of the semester.

Do not take my word for it. Look back on the reviews for him since he started. 10 years hasn't changed a thing for old GStu.

I hated him, if attendance was not taken I would not have shown up. Smith is rude, unhelpful, and a horrible professor. He gives unclear directions and few guidelines, making it impossible to do well in the class because even if you put together a great project, he marks down for stupid things. Worst journalism professor ever.

One of the biggest jokes of a professor I have ever had. Prof. Smith is more worried about his work outside of class than his students or their work. Incredibly demanding to the point where it will effect your other classes. Avoid!!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! this man has completely put me off my major and I wouldn't be surprised if all the positive ratings on here were by him. the most demanding yet unhelpful professor I've ever encountered. picks boring, outdated stories that will make you want to scratch your eyes out. he is completely unreasonable with deadlines. the list goes on

This class was the most difficult class I've taken, and I put all my time and energy into this class. He had no true appreciation for my work, he was very rude, didn't have time for me outside of class, not a fair grader, felt his opinion was the only one that mattered. If you're a boy you'll make out better in the class.

This was an easy class for me. You just need to make sure to look at his powerpoints for examples on broadcast script writing when doing your own for homework. I got an A in the class and didn't find it very difficult. It can get pretty boring at times but it's not so bad as these other reviews. He also drops the lowest project grade.

Professor Smith is an experienced journalist and was great to learn from. His class was based on reading from the textbook, which was not bad at all and rather interesting. Reading & participating in discussions were key to learning and getting a good grade.

He is intense! Knows his stuff and expects you to learn it quickly. He is great for people who want to learn to be journalists. If you are wanting to cruise through without working, this class is not for you. And the CF card only costs 15 bucks not 60.

Absolutely did not like this class or this man! He expected us to know everything from how to use the equipment(with no help) in the random studios in dempster and i spent about $60 to buy a cf card that we used maybe twice, and don't be late to his class because he WILL hold it against you! this class was so bad it made me change my major!

Smith is a great professor. He's been a journalist, knows what he's talking about, and all of his assignments and projects are given because they help you learn. I've learned so much in this class it's unbelieveable. He was interesting, responded well to students and always encouraged participation. Great teacher and I would definately take him aga

What's with all the complaints?! Smith is a really good prof. and I learned a lot in his class! Lots of relevant projects and the reading was manageable. He's even a nice guy. Don't hold a grudge just b/c you didn't pay attention or do any work. I'm not even broadcast jrnl and I'd take a class w/Smith again!

Im so glad this class is over! This man expected way too much for a beginner journalism class. He thought he was funny but he was just funny looking. He has an egg shaped head! He was also anal with deadlines, he acted as if he was a news director!

This professor sucked. This was my first broadcast based class and he totally turned me off. As of Fall 2004, I am changing my major to Public Relations. I always wanted to be a reporter but I don't think I can take any more classes with him.
