No written visuals, mumbles important things. Always drinks Pepsi and plays with his coins in his pocket during lecture. Not a good professor.

Really interesting person. Half the class failed the first two exams. If you actually go to class and type up good notes you will get an A in the class. If you have a habit of skipping class, you might not want to take this class. His lectures are interesting anyway, so there really isnt a reason to skip unless you have to.

Class was interesting and he is a funny guy. It seemed like an easy enough class, 3 exams are all that the class is graded on. 70% of each exam is based on a essay you do ahead of time. However despite me putting tons of time into the essay I nearly failed the first two exams. Came out of it with a C+ even though I'm a B avg student.

I've taken both Hist 381 and 382 from him. Simply study the terms off the handouts and write down only things from lecture that apply to those terms. For the rest: wikipedia. Honestly an easy class, you just have to attend and allow yourself to be entertained. Don't freak out about the true science stuff.

Gough is one of the most entertaining professors I have had. He has a lot of quirky habits, like always playing with change in his pockets, and he also tends to randomly raise his voice and has a funny laugh. He knows his subject well, but as others have mentioned, his tests are challenging to prepare for.

Good professor, interesting, but unfortunately his IDs on his test take FOREVER to study, he gives around 60, chooses 6 and you must do 5... so ya, you study 60 and have 5 to know from a random list of 6... not great chances.

Probably the worst prof i ever had. Wandering around in the class room, playing with coins in his pocket, sometimes almost screaming out things, other times vispering. Nows his stuff but he's so boring!!!

I agree with the last person. his class is interesting, he is indeed a clown, loves wine, telling awesome stories about history or his own life. laughs a lot at random times which makes it hella funny for some reason. He's the man!

Gough is a pretty brilliant dude, knows a TON about his subjects. He is entirely lecturer so if your into that kind of teaching he's the man. He has a funny speaking voice, laughs at his own jokes a TON, has a badass comeover, and likes asking the class if they know some obscure thing and then telling them education has failed them. Clownin

He is a teacher that is the most interesting person to speak with, and listen to but you have to study plenty, and focus on writing the essays even if the IDS take the most time.

Definitely a nice guy, though a little standoffish at times. Lectures interesting; provide most of what you need. Tests are pretty easy if you know the material; 75% take-home essay, 25% five in-class identifications. Loves tangents, wine, and tawdry elements. Recommended.

Nice guy, knows ALOT about everything. Lecture sort of has to do with tests but is very boring and not many people go. Only 3 tets including final. You just have to study terms and write a 3-4 page paper. Easier said than done. Be willing to spend alot of time studying and writing for rhe exam, but its only 3 times in the semester.

Loved Gough! It takes one test to get the hang of what he wants, the majority of the points are for a take home essay, and other answers are given at study sessions (make sure you go, and go to class as well. He gives you the answers!) He has weird stories to tell. Also he has a sweet comb-over and loves wine and Diet Pepsi.

Dr. Gough is a good guy, but the fact is that his tests were somewhat challenging and he played favorites. Test ID's really sucked and were completely random. I don't think I would take a class from him again... 3 tests is all. Really smart guy though...

This is an ok class it does get kinda slow at times because of how much he likes to talk. He has a weird sence of humor. Only have 3 exams and there is an essay question that is 75 out of the 100 point test. It takes one test to get use to how he tests you but you should be fine.

An okay class. A little boring, odd sense of humor. Only 3 exams. Don't panic after 1st exam, it takes a bit to get a clue on what he wants. Focus on the essays, they are 75% of the exam grade. Go to class, sometimes he gives hints to which identifications he might have on the exam. Don't bother with the text and CougarCopies booklet, I used one book briefly once. Almost all info can be found online for your exam essays and identifications.

He is one of my favorite professors here at Washington State University. The crazy stories and wild antics made attending class interesting and informative. However, out of the classroom he may seem standoffish or even a little shy, but that front ends quickly. I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone and everyone.

These classes are easy to pass as long as you show up and take some damn notes. He has a unique sense of humor and his stories are definately informative. The Exams are not hard, and visiting him about the essays before they are due will help tremendously.

I love the idea of a history of science class but lectures are kind of boring and kind of hard to follow. I think I learned more studying for the test then going to lectures. His stories are funny and after the rude awakening of studying for the first test I think people will come to class and pay attention more. Overall, I like the class
