Sister Joan is such a nice woman who requires a lot from her students. If you do the work, you will be fine in her class. Her final was a little difficult, and she is a very tough grader when it comes to writing/grammar. You can learn a lot from her if you give her a chance! She is the worst humanities 100 teacher. I was in her 8am class and i regretted being in there. She says AMEN to try to get everyone quiet and gives you a test every class on the chapter you were suppose to read. She is a hard grader but bright colored paper helps she cant read it and gives you an A! Good Luck!

All freshmen: although you may be unfamiliar with college, you CAN change your freshman seminar teacher and I HIGHLY advise you to do so or else you will HATE this school, not because of the school but because Sister Joan makes you feel HORRIBLE and puts people down and does not allow you to have your own thoughts.RUN FAR AWAY and SWITCH PROFESSORS

Whoever said Sister Joan was a good teacher was just sucking up to her. You were not allowed to have your own opinions in this class. The point of class was to make friends and get used to the college, she would get MAD at you for doing either of those things. She will yell at you if you sit with your friends!

This is the most horrible professor ever, she treats you like you are 3 yrs old, she gives way too much work for a freshman seminar class and she is too old to be teaching college. (SHE IS THE OLDEST SISTER OF ST. JOSEPH'S)!! Run away, run far away!!! Horrible professor, not a helpful class at all. I didn't learn anything all semester from her.

Okay, so she's a nun, and yea she's a little rigid; but, overall, she is a sweet person and one of the only professors that really care about her students. Just because the rest of my class (and SJC) is filled with slackers does not mean she is a terrible teacher. If you give her a chance you will find the experience rewarding, just do your work!
