Comment:

Prof Rietz is one of the most caring professors I had this semester at HFC. He gives second chances to edit your essays, extra credit chances on the quizzez, and is very considerate of his students. Just focus and read well and you'll easily pass. Everyone that gave him a bad rating most likely didn't put in the work.

A very lecture and reading heavy class, lectures can be quite boring sometimes. He is a very nice professor and is enthusiastic about the class, but is a tough grader for papers and uses participation points based on class discussion for a chunk of your grade.

This was by far the worst professor I have ever had. He is such a tough grader and does not make his grading scale clear. He gives you a chance to redo all essays but still does not give you full credit after fixing everything he has asked you to fix. We do nothing in class either, expect a paper due every 1-2 weeks

This is the worst professor that I've ever seen at HFC. His class is absolutely not worth anyone's time. Hard grader and doesn't help you with any of your work. Usually an A student and got a C+ in his class. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!

For anyone who says he grades hard is just lazy. He gives you two chances on all of your papers and is there to help whenever. He challenges you and truly makes you learn the material in full. He is goofy, optimistic, and caring towards his students and I plan on taking him again any chance I get.

You can tell Dr. Rietz really enjoys his job and enjoys seeing students succeed. He is a tough grader, but he revises your work before turning in the final draft. If you put in the work you will do fine.

Actually, I do not recommend anyone to take class with him. So hard so strict . All papers grade c not more than that. I will not take with him even if I died. He choose tough topics. NEVER TAKE WITH HIM BE CAREFUL

I absolutely loved Mr. Rietz! He's a great person, very intelligent, cares for his students, and makes the class as painless as possible. He grades a little tough, but he gives you feedback and time to revise so that you can fix up your papers before you turn them in. He is one of the nicest teachers I've had and I would definitely take him again.

Professor Rietz is a great educator; he is one of the most optimistic and inspired professors I've had the pleasure of learning from. He does grade hard, but he allows editing your papers for a higher grade. He is very anal about sentence structure, but in the end, you'll only benefit from his help. Jordan

I really enjoyed his class. He gives excellent feedback on papers. Also his class is quite interesting. I can truly say that I am learning a lot! He is very good at explaining the material you are required to read. On papers, he grades the first draft then gives you a week to fix it. I really like his personality. I plan to take him again next sem!

He was a great teacher kept the class interesting and was very funny. Very tough grader, but english is based on opinion anyway. I never received anything higher than a C on all my papers and all my in class quizzes were 100%. I finished my last english class with a B+ and this one with a C.

Absolutely the WORST teacher! I hate my semester taking him. So many students dropped the class after the 2nd essay he is very boring not helpful his lectures are stupid and he grades so tough plus he favors students I turned in a sloppy paper gotba C+ then the next paper I turned in I put a lot of effort in and still received the same grade AVOID

Excellent professor! Lectures are always interesting and discussion is greatly encouraged. Always available via email and is willing to answer questions in class as well. Great feedback on rough drafts makes it easy to get an A on the final draft. Very polite and never shows frustration with students! If I could take more classes with him, I would!

He grades extremely to hard I use to get straight A's on all my college papers until I took his class. Long boring lectures, long assignments and too many quizzes for a english writing class you will fall asleep all semester in his class you have been warned!!!

Dr. Rietz's class is no walk in the park, but he seems passionate about what he teaches and really cares about helping his students. He is consistent with his office hours and comes to class prepared. His class is mostly lecture based, but he is very engaging and looks to create open discussion in the classroom.
