Comment:

He was always open to meeting on Zoom for extra help. He tries, but kept falling short for me. I felt like the online class platform is not for him. Some assignments were released late, some quizzes were due before hw assignments (which doesn't allow you to check your work before taking the quiz) and most grading on hw was done near end of semester

Every week we had a quiz, and every 3 weeks a paper is due. He is a very tough teacher and he expect you to know everything. He wants you to read the book but answer the the questions from the quiz in his own words. My whole class had a hard time in his class not getting the grades we wanted and it went down hill after the first month.

He is a great professor. Even with the pandemic, he made sure his students understood what was going on and was very flexible. He is passionate about geology.

This professor is a great person! But there's a lot of online quizzes and google is NOT going to be your friend. Read the textbook and don't think literal when he asks questions. Study everyday if you can.

Comment:

Dr. Mohanan is SUPER cool. He always tries to crack jokes in his lectures. He also brought our class coffee and hot cocoa to make during lectures sometimes. The material could get very confusing bc it's something I've never studied before, but I do rlly love astronomy thanks to Dr. M!

Comment:

Prof Mohanan is very knowledgeable and passionate about astronomy. There is a LOT covered in class. Took the summer class so it was especially hard to keep up. STUDY GROUPS were very important for me. He tells you everything you need to know but there's lots. Not an easy A, but imo it's worth it if you like astro.

WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY WHOLE LIFE. I AM AN A STUDENT BUT BECAUSE OF HIM IM FAILING. His quizzes do not make sense. He puts things in the quizzes that we never ever did learn about and he does not even reply to emails or answer his office phone. DO NOT take this class. He is not a good professor. Way to set up students for failure!!

He's very passionate about what he teaches and is always encouraging students to become geologists. However, the overall structure class was very unorganized. He doesn't follow the syllabus and jumps around with his thoughts. It's very hard to grasp if you aren't familiar with the subject. Get ready to read and google topics he doesn't cover.

I know he means well and has genuine interest in this subject, but he's not the best at teaching. His lectures are fast and not to mention that not everything he covers in there will be on the tests or quizzes. You'll have to do some extra studying by reading the textbook. He is far from accessible outside class even though he tells you otherwise.

Horrible organization, the quizes will cover parts of chapter you haven't read yet. I also very unforgiving, I am a 3.5 gpa student and this class makes it difficult to obtain a c.

He's a very misunderstood prof. Lectures are fast but he cares A LOT & you need to try to meet him halfway. I took his class during my 10th grade HS year & he would always be willing to help if you ask. Just be sure to read the book, study lots, ask for help & use the appendix in the book to help you w/astrophysics hw. Do all that & you're good!

I am taking his online course, and I wouldn't recommend it, I've heard he is a better in class teacher, but even then been told he rambles. Study Guides weren't all that helpful. But he did give us some extra credit work. Communication is key. Organization skills does need work.

He means well. Offers extra credit and will give you a break if you are hardworking. He is a little disorganized but it was a minor inconvenience... no textbook required which is great. He likes his subject- brought donuts to class one day just to be nice.

Mohan doesn't really go at a good pace, and his brain is always all over the place. He guesses himself on the questions that he answers. His quizzes are pretty easy, but his tests seem to be covering everything we haven't learned. He asks for feedback on his class but doesn't really listen to what the students have to say.

Terrible, just terrible. He seems very interested in this subject but it's so hard to keep up with him because he is very unorganized. Lots of random math and some quiz questions don't even make sense or were even repeated in the same quiz and I'm not sure why. Students, beware!

Comment:

Very unorganized. Assignments are rather easy, but test and quizzes seem to have a lot of focus on rather specific things; some questions are given twice in a quiz/exam. Class has little to no structure or regularity--some quizzes open for a week, some open for three days. You never really know when to do what.

I think Professor is a bit misunderstood. He means well but I think he sometimes has a hard time communicating what he needs us to do as students. He really really loves the subject he teaches with all his heart, though, and if you have questions for him about anything he loves to chat. Class needs more structure.

He was NOT clear about assignments or for quizzes. His assignments and homework was off topic they did not follow with the syllabus. He seemed pretty scattered and didn't like his job as he stated at the start of the semester. I had a really tough time trying to understand the material. I leave class sessions still confused.
