Comment:

This class was way harder than it needed to be. She barely taught in class, but when we went online, she stopped altogether. All of the assignments were unclear but still harshly graded. She rips your writing apart but doesn't help you improve it. This class could've been good, but unfortunately, she didn't teach enough to make it possible.

Comment:

Professor Mele is nice and means well, but is very, & too specific. She basically wanted us to copy other works that she would share in class. I thought there would be more freedom because travel writing is creative and independent. She makes travel writing boring and takes the fun out of it. Also she is an extremely hard grader.

At first I felt the class was impossible, but the more I started visiting her office hours and asking specific essay questions, the more I began to understand what she was looking for in our writing. She was BEYOND helpful and caring, always gave great ideas as to how to go about your writing etc. Go to the writing center too to show her you care

Comment:

Kate taught Rhetoric in Global Context and I highly suggest taking her. She is very knowledgable about the subject, passionate, and always has amazing lectures. She is easy to talk to, get help from, and if you like to travel, take this course!! All you do is read about people's travel stories and analyze them! Super great class and professor!

If you have the chance to take Travel Writing with Kate, DO IT! She is extremely nice and helpful, the course is very creative & you really take control of your writing. Kate is one of the BEST professors Ive had at RWU, she really loves Travel Writing and is super knowledgeable! She is fun, energetic, and loves what she does! Very inspiring!

Quite frankly, she is the most unclear writing professor I have ever come across. Her feedback is useless and I truly believe she have no idea what she is talking about. She rambles about greek terms, discourse communities, and other pointless things you don't need to know to write the remedial papers she assigns.

Mele is the best professor I have had at this university. She gives the grade that fits the effort and content of the paper, doesn't leave comments so you will go and see her so she can advise you on how to revise. If you're confused, ask questions. She usually tries to provide a better way to explain. She is very happy an loves her students!

She was useless. I went three times and I kid you not for 3 straight classes she stood in front of the board and talked about a Democratic Convention she went to. Never talked about assignments, just spewed liberal propaganda for 3 class periods. Hated her.

While this class is a complete waste of time to begin with, she does nothing to improve it. The essays are horrible, she goes on and on about Kairos and MLA, while she seems to encourage that you write about incredibly stupid and pointless topics. Honestly, there is nothing good to say.
