Not very understanding with deadlines or extensions. Had tech problems and had it back me up was still not allowed to repeat test. Test are the base of the class.

Dr. Frana is extremely knowledgeable about what he is teaching. The only grades in the lecture portion are exams so it is crucial that you do well on those. During class, print out the PowerPoints and make sure you take notes on anything he says that is not in the PowerPoints. The best way to study is to make flashcards of everything in the notes.

Dr. Frana is an extremely knowledgable professor. His tests are not hard like everyone says. If you study the lecture slides and read the text when concepts are hard to understand an A is extremely easy to obtain. The reviews from rate my professor scared me, but i learned that most of the reviews are from people who didn't put in the work.

about 75% of your grade is exams so if you are not a good test taker I would stay away. Other than that, he is a nice guy and he is very approachable. He goes through material at a good pace and he always explains things well, but there is a lot of memorization involved. He's also a pretty tough grader and his exams are hard.

None of the questions on the exam came from the textbook, only his powerpoints. He explains concepts well and kinda goes through the material slowly which is a good thing cuz some of the exams got cut short. The material itself isn't hard to understand it's just a lot of memorization. good professor and laid back, he's the one everyone says to take

BIO211 with Professor Frana is challenging. You have to put a lot of time in studying, and his exams are difficult. His class is exam heavy, being as approx. 75 % of your grade is dependent on exams. He is a really great professor though. He is very approachable, and if you have questions about an answer he will explain it. I recommend him!

BIO211 with Frana was definitely challenging. Really have to get involved with the material and put in time studying for exams! Though he wants you to know things very specifically, it is possible to get an A. Having him for lab as well made things alot better, you understand his tests and get to ask him questions whenever.

He's a very tough grader. The exam answers have to be exactly what he wants. Most of my answers were correct but they weren't as specific as he'd like so he took off points for that. Other than the grading he explains things very well and loves to help you with anything needed.

I had Dr. Frana for both micro lecture and lab and he is a nice guy who obviously cares about the subject material but it's annoying how there are only so many assignments actually graded for his class. Like memorize you lecture and lab notes and you can get an A on the test but if you do bad one time it's over.

His tests were so freaking hard. He does not test you on the general ideas. He only wants you to memorize everything, and then he'll just ask some crazy questions on the most unnecessary details.

I liked Dr. Frana, his class was a bit impersonal because of the huge size, but he was a good teacher nonetheless. As long as you study the notes he gives in class and skim the textbook for concepts you're having trouble with, you'll be fine on the exams. The one thing I didn't like was that he tests on lots of names/dates related to micro.

Dr. Frana tests on things that are so unneccesary. He doesn't try to test on the big concepts, but asks questions on the exams about irrelevant details. Memorize every little note he gives you because they will most likely be on the test

Dr. Frana definitely knows what he's talking about and is enthusiastic about the subject. However, I find the class to be unfair. There are 7 exams and a few assignments and that's your grade for the semester. If you bomb one exam good luck getting better than a C in the course. I wouldn't recommend taking him and I wouldn't ever again

Dr. Frana is great when explaining the slides on the lectures and if you go to his office hours he is very sweet and willing to work with you. His exams are very challenging and take a lot of studying. Also, his exams are in great detail and you need to read the book and memorize the lecture slides.

Dr. Frana for seminar is pretty much like the other professors. One presentation w your partner for the semester. Attend all the other presenters presentations and participate. Pretty decent grader as long as you actually take time to make your powerpoint and do the assignments. Def. recommended!

Upper level biology class so don't expect an easy A or B. Dr. Frana's class is pretty chill and straightforward. No lab so that is definitely a plus. Exams come from the notes and maybe a little additional reading from the textbook which is an easy read. I recommend him.

Took Virology and loved it, however, tests were quite difficult. Textbook usage is a must, even if you attend every class. I would advise note cards for virus types and +/- sense RNA types, can be super confusing. Overall a very interesting class. Cell Bio lab was better and Dr. Frana was always willing to explain experiments and lab reports.

Dr. Frana is a great professor! Extremely helpful, I went to him for like all my Lab reports and he was very informative. The information we learn't was also very interesting. I did well on everything besides the lab quizzes. My advice, don't underestimate those quizzes.
