Very easy class! You can use google for tests! I made an A+ easily!!!!! I took Mckinney for 1302 online and only made a B, as he expects a 400 word paper to be turned in every sunday! Take Melvin Johnson for a relaxing semester!

I enjoy history and I feel like a learned quite a bit in this class. Mr. Johnson's instructions were a little confusing at first, but once I figured out what he wanted me to do with the comments, I didn't have any trouble. I took this in the summer, which means reading four chapters and writing one essay a week, plus a test.

Comment:

I took Mr. Johnson for history 1301 and 1302. He is not an easy teacher for sure, but I learned more than just History from his class. He really wants to see you succeed, so he challenges you to prepare you for other challenging classes that will be in your college career. No, the class isn't fun. But, yes, you will learn a lot and your essays will be much better than they have ever been. I still see Mr. Johnson around school. He remembers my name and wants to know how I'm doing. He cares!

Comment:

Excellent class that everyone must take for any degree. He cares and will respond to your questions. I took it online. Tests can be a bit cumbersome, but if you do the minimum you will make a B in this course. Put just a little effort and you can earn an A. History isn't many people's cup of tea, but it's as good as it gets in his class.

Hard, because he wants you to read each chapter 10x over and memorize it basically. His lectures are useless. He grades easily on writing assignments, though. Also, wrongly accuses people of plagiarism. Over all not a fun class.

As long as you do the work you will pass this class. The tests are not easy at all. They are 100 questions & take a while to complete. Do not bother copying his notes, because they will not help on the test. I hate history and I made an "A" in this class. I plan to take my other history from him as well. He is very helpful.

Mr. Johnson was everything I could have asked for in a professor. I took his dual credit courses both HIST 1301-1302. I feel prepared and insipired to leave high school & thanks to him have a better idea of what to expect in class this fall. His love for history helped interest & his professional presence was exceptional. Always willing to help!

His expectations in his class are high, yet very realistic. The only students in my class that he was abrasive with, were the one's who had terrible pose and/or writing skills of a middle school student. It made me twitch to read the ebonics and such submitted, making his corrections warranted and refreshing. He's very clear in his assignments.

Mr. Johnson may be hard, but for me he has been very helpful, very nice, very patient, and very understanding. I can overlook some of the roughness because as long as I show effort he is willing to help. The key here is effort if you don't want to put for the effort then don't go to school.

Mr. Johnson is a fairly good teacher, But his methods are what make him so hard to tolerate. He tells his students to be unbiased but then he pushes his beliefs on them. He does teach you how to write but is WAY UNCLEAR on how he wants them written and even what he wants the paper to be about!

Mr. Johnson is a hard teacher for English 1301, but if you do the work, you will learn how to write great papers! He did like to make jokes and loved to talk politics whenever he got the chance. A lot of students didn't like him and he did not let you hide in a corner, ever. Everyone had to say something during the semester. I liked him overall.

Mr. Johnson is a challenging professor. If you want a challenge you should take him. I do feel that he is somewhat disrespectful towards his students. He would eat while he was teaching. He is very knowlegdeable, and you will learn in there. I would take him if you need History, but if not I would not unless you want a challenge.

Mel Johnson was one of the best teacher's I've had. He was very helpful in the computer lab and graded our essays leniantly. He was a nice guy and never seemed disrespectful or arrogant. I specifically asked for him when I went back to take English 1302 because I enjoyed his class so much. I mad an A in both and I'm only in high school. Take him.

He is an ego-trippin' know it all who doesn't respect people as adults. He does not believe he is ever wrong and if you don't agree with him, oh boy are you in for a class you will struggle at.
