Comment:
(Fall 2020 -Both lecture and lab) He does a good job explaining during lectures, however, he can be very rude and sarcastic in his emails, so watch out for that. Likes to give feedback like "if you want an A, just turn in A's." Do not go to this class expecting an easy A or B. Prepare to teach material to yourself.

Had Reese for Fall 2020 online (due to COVID). He is condescending and unsympathetic. Extremely lecture heavy, tons and tons of homework, difficult exams, pop quizzes. 65% of his students this semester failed; prepare to rely on your classmates and youtube for help, NOT Professor Reese!!

Unless you have a strong chemistry background, don't bother with Reese. He is often condescending and is ill-equipped to teach online. He is very unhelpful and basically told students to drop his class because he "doesn't want to give F's", but if you ask for help he will make you feel very stupid and calls you out in class.

This review is solely based off of COVID-19 zoom classes. Professor Reese is undoubtedly a tough, demanding, and at times, condescending. Due to the course being online, a plethora of problems have occurred that have been detrimental to students learning. There was an incident involving a pop-quiz being inaccessible and he still gave students 0s

I took this class online due to COVID-19, and I failed his class. Mind you, I have NEVER failed or had to drop a class, but he definitely doesn't seem like he actually cares about his students. He's very rude through emails, never helpful, and speeds through lectures like we're supposed to get it right away. He grades hard, everything is TOUGH!

Worst teacher I have ever had. I should of listen to the previous reviews. I reached out multiple times and he basically said he doesn't care if we pass or fail his class. You have to do the problems his way or else he will mark them as wrong. I did some problems the way that I felt comfortable using and it received a 0.

Please take Spring 2020 reviews with a grain of salt, he's an older professor & switching to online *midsemester* was probably really hard for him. I had him in fall of 2019 and he was by far the best professor I've ever had. He had the greatest boardwork, incredibly funny & engaging. Will always help you if you have questions, great guy 10/10

INTENSE. He's an intense guy but not in an intimidating way. He knows his stuff and keeps his lectures entertaining and participatory without singling people out. Do not miss class , and don't hesitate to ask questions. Homework is graded and necessary to know what's on the test exactly. Great professor to get your foundational chemistry with.

Yes, his class is tough he even admits it a couple of times during the semester but it really does show you whether or not you'll be ready for the classes ahead. Also if you really want to learn the material he's your best bet when it comes to mastering it.

His Class is clearly meant to make you think critically. He wants you to learn and understands what he teaches and is willing to help. He does want to see people pass. This semester has been challenging for him and his students as he had to coordinate during the Covid-19 mid semester. This professor will take your study habits to another level.

This class is no joke. You need to take responsibility for your own success. Show up to class, put in maximum effort, attend lectures, and meet up with classmates for extra study sessions. If you're not prepared to take this class seriously, don't enroll. You will walk away with a sour taste. I put in 10-15 hours a week outside of class to get my A

With COVID-19, we shifted to online classes and he didn't care at all about this pandemic affecting his students. His lectures are very unorganized and scrambled everywhere! Sometimes he likes to be sarcastic with what he teaches us. A lot of attitude and very rude for his age. Don't listen to his old reviews.

Don't take this class with him. He is the worst professor and doesn't care about his students. He always makes things difficult and is very unclear with his instructions of what needs to be done and how it needs to be done.

One of the worst professors I have ever had in my life. He expects you to always read the book and understand the material. It was hard transitioning online due to COVID-19 making EVERYTHING 10x harder. I wouldn't recommend taking him because he only makes you feel dumb when asking a question. He doesn't care about his students, only his favorites

Never met a professor that wanted to see his students fail. Very unclear, very unorganized, very rude, seems like he hates his job and his students. Unnecessary amount of homework, 30+ questions only to be worth 2 points. Dont take him

You ever feel like you wanna pass but theres always someone telling you that youll never succeed? Well come to this class because if you dont read everything youre given, your just as good as the guy who reads for dummies books. Youll probably gain more answers and knowledge about general chemistry than this class from a Chem book for dummies.

Ok, when you look back at the comments from Spring 2020, take them with a grain of salt. I'm not saying they aren't wrong; yes, the exams and quizzes were hard, but we went online mid semester. That was hard on everybody and made everything else harder, too. People kind of stopped showing up. Work hard, and you'll get that A,but this is noteasy

Okay so he seems cool at first but hes legit crazy hard! His lectures are pretty hard to follow, his exams/quizzes are very difficult and he knows hes a hard professor and he loves it. I recommend to not take his class! Avoid at all cost or be prepared to go slightly insane.

Mr. Reese's teaching style is convoluted and hard to follow. He spends more time trying to intimidate people with the material than making sense of it. He's condescending. He does the "tough teacher" act and is more focused on imparting his philosophies about life and academics than teaching chemistry. I wish I had chosen any other professor.
