He is a real good prof if you compare with other profs in third year engineering. Try to attend all classes and you will learn a lot and get bonus marks!!! The lab is not easy in 3500, but midterm and final are easy to pass!!!

Ralph is one of my favourite professors I've had. He makes something very dry (VHDL) to be kind of fun. The labs were tremendously difficult and time consuming. Was were very helpful as was Ralph. He will set you up for success if you attend class, you will pass this difficult course without a doubt. He also gives plenty of bones marks generously.

ELEC 3500 can be a tricky course if you don't have the work ethic. The labs are super long and are every week. As long as you do them and understand them, you will do well in this class. Go look at Ralph's old midterms and finals (that he provides) that is what you be tested on. No surprises. He is a very fair man that wants the students to do well

If you like digital, you should enjoy his lectures. He does these bonus questions at the end of most lectures, to re-enforce the concepts, which is funny how a few of those bonus questions came on the final. Midterm was almost the same as previous year's, same with assignments and labs. He made the material approachable with jokes and good examples

Don't think this professor was a good fit for the course. In fact, I'm not totally sure what he was there to do. Zero feedback given on assignments, guidelines extremely vague. We have to do these silly "reflection journals" and I've never seen such inconsistent marking.. How can a "reflection journal" even be graded unbiased.. wouldn't recommend

Does a lot of bonus quizzes which help explain the material. However the final is tough! Labs are easy but be prepared for the final!

Ralph is absolutely the best prof you can have for Digital Electronics. He's silly, has a good grasp of the class, and has a lot of applicable industry knowledge that he often uses as real examples.

- I find too much reliant on power point, but the bonus quizzes make the class engaging and makes me engaged - favorite course this semester (minus the innovation - innovation sucks and I do not recommend it for next year) - funny guy lel

He's a nice guy and a good prof. It's too bad the lectures aren't particularly full of relevant content. Slides are okay. The ToW lab is a pain, but it teaches you Verilog quite well (if you write your own code.)

Classes themselves not that helpful, except for when he did example problems. Even recorrected assignments, after the TAs messed up which was nice. His notes are pretty spot on, and even reviewed a sample final. Labs are a bit annoying, but not terribly hard. Even gives bonus marks for asking class questions and goes over them too.

This is by far the best professor i had at carleton so far. He is down to earth type of guy who could be a comedian on the side. He makes the class very interesting and very easy to understand! If you have the opportunity to take a class with him i highly recommend it

He a good professor and very refreshing. He asks students to assist in solving problems in class and will give in class quizzes. If he finds that students haven't learned the material he will recover it. He's very willing to answer questions in class. His exams were quite fair if a little on the tough side.

Simply put - this man CANNOT teach. Bigger problem is that he is teaching 2507 - an introductory course to semiconductor fundamentals and analog IC design that makes or breaks a student's future. Ralph, I suggest you take a course in teaching, it really could help or at least teach upper year courses.

Another symptom of what ails carleton U. This man lacks decency and common sense. Don't worry Ralph, I eventually got an A in the course without your useless "teaching" How could such an inarticulate creature survive in industry? With the big tuition bucks going to this turkey he does such stupidity as mulple choice exams.

Comment:
Very boring prof. Slides are word for word right out of the textbook. He reads the slides word for word, so don't expect different explanations from what you read in the text. His lack of energy and non-existant desire to teach are his best attributes. DO NOT ENROLL IN HIS CLASS!
