Richard is a great prof. He's super nice and funny and he made the transition to online class very straightforward and stress free. Fairly easy class as long as you pay attention and participate!

Comment:

Richard acts like he is a nice guy but in actuality, he is not. He often goes on long rants and tangents during class lectures and then proceeds to give a weekly quiz from material that was supposed to be covered during his tangents. Some of the material on the final exam was nowhere in the course and he puts no effort into his responses via email.

Comment:

Found tests and quizzes to be extremely hard if you do not read the textbook and powerpoints prior to class. Lectures are kind of dull (gets off track a lot) but he is very quick to confirm if you have questions. Must show up and participate to get full marks. I would take it again, but get ready to work HARD for a good final grade.

He is a bit condescending toward students and gives quizzes based on the lecture he just gave 5 minutes ago and the quizzes are double negative type questions. He is a very easy marker on assignments, make sure to always give feedback in class for participation marks. Richards class also is the only one with a final at UFV.

My whole class is struggling to understand the concepts he is teaching. Exams are very difficult unless you study the entire textbook. Reads straight off a powerpoint for a large chunk of class time. He is a nice guy but does not set clear grading criteria for the project and left us to figure out everything on our own for the exams.

Get ready to read the entire textbook if you expect to do well in the course. Don't argue with him, you'll never win. His midterm, final and even quizzes are difficult/tricky if you don't read the textbook. But, I do feel that I've learnt quite a bit, not sure if it's cause I read the entire textbook a few times or it was his doing? Avoid him.

I would not recommend taking this class, it was a waste of time and money. Be prepared to get low marks; my expectations for getting a good grade stopped about halfway through the semester. He will also argue that you are wrong and he is right, every time.

Tough Marker, if you argue a mark he will say " It's wrong because I'm the professor and I'am right." when the text book says otherwise. Gets in yelling matches. Provides and poor learning environment. Tries to sell Payfirma to private local companies after he asks first years to conduct unauthorized primary research on said companies.

Worst professor I have had at UFV. I would delay getting my degree to avoid taking another course with him. His weighting of assignmentsquizzes is not fair in my mind and he is very difficult to deal with. He doesn't like being wrong or hearing others opinions. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

This man is the worst educator I have ever encountered. Everyone in our class was convinced he just wanted to sell us his side businesses (socks and credit card payment services). His tests are hard and everything seems so randomly weighted - quizzes are worth more than the huge final project? AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Wouldn't take a class with him again, he pretends he is nice but actually a real pain in the ass. He marks extremely hard and doesn't explain what he expects from the class when it comes to projects. When you ask him for help, he tries to make you feel stupid. One of worst profs so far.

Good teacher. Picks favourites though and that is part of the reason I did so well. Be prepared to learn about his mohair sock company. Seriously. Fairly easy marker though. Interesting personality but does give really good examples for the exam.

Personally, I did not care for his teaching style.. I'm coming out of the course feeling like I haven't learned a whole lot. On top of that, i'm not a fan of class attendance being included in my grade.

I personally did not learn well with his teaching style at all. He expects you to do it all on your own and does not want to give you any information at all if you can't figure it out. I don't recommend him, I hopefully will not have to take his classes again.

Took this course with him years ago, there's something that still bugs me about him. Somehow his being overly cheerful and friendly comes across as incredibly phony, like I instinctively distrust him. His crowning achievement is managing an Abercrombie & Fitch. He treats you like a child, in that attendance is absolutely mandatory, no exceptions

He treats his student like children in that so much of the grade is based on attendance. You pay so much money it should be up to you. If it were experiental learning fine, but its a 100 course. Second he comes across as a phony. It may be me, but he is overly cheerful. Finally, I dont see how running an A&F for a couple of years is a qualification

He is a very smart teacher. His classes are interesting and he covers the material fairly well. His midterm and final can be difficult. Quizzes every 2 weeks. Nice guy!
