Tom is a great professor at Chico State. He was very understanding that everybody had busy schedules during the pandemic and was very flexible with the homework he assigned. He cares about his students and wants everybody to succeed. He assigns a quiz once a week along with a discussion post. There is about 3 projects you do throughout the semester

Amazing teacher, I wish I wouldve put more effort on the class. His class is easy if you read the book and take notes. Always participate in your group. He was the most caring teacher I had during online classes, he never give up on us, always in contact. He does care about students and really loves traveling. He would be always available to help

TOM IS THE BEST TEACHER IN ALL THE LAND! You cannot even compare him to other teachers. His lectures are fascinating and he has a lifetime of knowledge on the subject. He has great stories he tells in class everyday. There is no attendance policy but you will always want to go to class. Tom is the epitome of an amazing teacher.

Great professor! He is informative and has a lot of experience about other countries. Especially when he talks between individualistic countries and collectivistic countries. It was easy to understand the content of a lecture. Highly Recommended!!!!

Favorite teacher at Chico State by far, if you dont understand something he will go out of his way to help you with it. He wants his students to succeed and is very enthusiastic. Made me consider minoring in communications becuase I loved his class so much!

EXCELLENT teacher. He is my favorite professor that I've had so far. He always makes class interesting, and his enthusiasm is contagious. He is very clear about all assignments, and I never felt confused. Very helpful and inspiring. I really wish he taught more classes. Take him if you have the opportunity to!

Grothe is a great teacher. He gives you an idea about how the world will be a better place if we all just understood one another with a little intercultural communication techniques. This was by far my most exciting class and I always looked forward to going to it (even though it was at 5pm).

He is one of the best teachers that I have ever had in all my college experience! Take him if you can, I wish he taught more classes... He has inspired me to go and study abroad, with all his energy and stories about his travels make it worth going to class. AMAZING TEACHER!

this was the best class i have taken in my college career. tom makes lecture fun and entertaining, but also makes you really interested in the subject matter. if you can, take this class at the end of the day, so you have something to look forward to all day.

Amazing teacher. Has a lot of energy every day and makes class interesting. This was my favorite class this semester. He not just the lecter type of teacher..you do activities, too. You have 4 tests and drop the lowest, so you don't have to take the final if you don't need to. Take this class for sure, it's fun and fun to learn about.

He is so enthusiastic about this class that the learning is fun. He trys to mix-up the lecture rutine. I loved this class and so did everyone else in it. Lots of room for duscussion in the lectures and he is more than willing to share his expereinces to help you learn.

I'm not a communications major so I did not want to take this class. It turned out to be my favorite class to go to and I sat in my classes for my major all day waiting to go to Tom's class. Energetic, knowledable, truly one of the best teacher's I've ever had. Has quite a few writing assignments, but a good student will have no problems.

Hello, Tom is one of the best teachers I had ever had. He gives great lectures. You can enter that class dead beat from the party before and be awake and love his lecture. HE explains his lectures well and explains everythign well. I do recommend him, take his class!
