Comment:
I hate physics, and Mincer just made it worse. He graded our exam wrong once, then took away points after giving out the grades. He would not be as helpful as he claimed he would be in office hours. I went to his office hours and he would just tell me that I am not mastering the material, which I knew. Hence why I was in office hours. He was wack

Prof Mincer is a very kind and caring professor. I feel like all the negative reviews here are people who dont attend class and get mad when they don't do well. I didn't read a single page of the textbook (just attended his lectures and did homework) and I did pretty well. His teaching is more theoretical based which I find a lot more interesting

Had him for Physics 2. Is a fair professor grading wise but a pretty bad teacher. The only professor I've had for pre -med that doesn't post slides at all so you have to read the textbook, which is pretty dense and boring. Lecture is mostly deriving theories, not much application. Memorize practice exams to pass the class (actual tests are harder).

Comment:
Prof Mincer is very sweet and caring, and responsive to his students. His lectures are quite math heavy, but the book (though long and not very digestible at parts) gives all the conceptual understanding needed. Exams are similar to the practice tests, but harder. The topics are boring and abstract, but no professor can change that.

He really tries to teach but just doesn't do a good job. You have to self learn and analyze every inch of the practice exam he gives you because they are the only questions that are anywhere similar to the tests. The textbook and hw problems are NOTHING like the exam questions. Know your practice exam inside and out.

Probably the worst class I'v taken at NYU. Its flipped which means the lectures are online but that means you need to watch 1/2 hour of lectures twice a week then go into class and apply it on online worksheets for 3 hours a week. This with the 2 hour lab section and weekly homework makes the workload unreal. Material is hard, prof is boring.

Horrible professor- do not take this class. Supposed to be a CORE class based for non-science majors- it is advanced physics. Homework takes up 99.9% of time and nothing taught in lecture reflects information on homework or exams.

Good professor. Encourages questions and likes for students to be engaged. I recommend getting the textbook for the course to help understand the concepts.

Professor Mincer made this class bearable. I never took a physics class before, but he makes the subject matter clear, his lectures are fast-paced and interesting, he encourages questions, and he is obviously passionate about his work. As long as you're willing to put in the effort of reading and studying, you will get a good grade in this class.

I had him for Quarks and Cosmos and I just dropped the class. Not only did he go way way way too fast for me, but he went way to fast for everyone...none of the homework questions were explained by him...just a total mass of confusion and waste of time and money

Absolutely horrible, teaches the class as if the class had a clue what he was talking about already, assumes everything is clear, TA's had to correct him a few times each class, nice guy, horrible teacher

had him for quarks to cosmos, he's a really nice guy and both he and the TAs are helpful, but the lectures can get really, really confusing. of course, the material itself is extremely dense. he's really approachable though, so definitely use him as a resource if you're stuck.

For a "physics for poets" type of class, Nat. Sci. 1 was very difficult. Although he seems like a very nice man, Mincer's lectures did nothing but confuse me as well as the classmates I've spoken with. It would probably be best to just read the textbook and fend for yourself.

The topic is dense, so I'll give him credit for attempting to clarify as much as possible. But sometimes the lectures jumped around.

Dr. Mincer made an excellent presentation to our class and it was impressive. He is an excellent professor and should continue doing the wonderful work he is already doing. He is very helpful for advising, too.

Prof. Mincer expected us to know things we didn't. He went really fast, didn't explain anything, and didn't encourage questions.
