Professor Rubal-Lopez is an alright professor. You have to put in a lot of effort into the papers and exams. She definitely makes you work hard for the class, which I did and ended up with a grade that I don't deserve. She is a tough grader. Her exams are hard even if you study for them and you need to complete 20 hrs of fieldwork.

Professor Lopez's course is not an easy A. She is preparing you for the upper courses SEED 3401, 3402, and student teaching; due to the EDtpa being a difficult exam to pass. Her quiz and midterm are hard, reread the chapters to get a better understanding of the concept. But, you would have to show effort due to being a future educator.

The class is not the best, but she is not a terrible professor either. You are definitely going to work for your grade. Her lectures are pretty boring so unless you are a morning person, I suggest taking her in the afternoon if that is an option. She does group work. She drops the lowest test score. Talks about her daughters a lot.

Comment:

This professor is very strict with her grading, but overall she makes you work for it, which she does best at. Every lecture, she provides the class on real life examples about the topics that are reviewed during the class, that makes it easier to follow. If you do the readings assigned, you will receive a good grade. Don't miss out!

Although having a professor who makes you think on complex levels is something we all want, there is no reason why concrete and abstract thinking should be taken way beyond than what it should be for a two thousand level undergraduate class. In other words, it will feel like you stepped into graduate school without any sort of advanced preparation.

Took her in the fall of 2018. If you like sociology, and are interested in the world we live in today, you will love her class. Her lectures are great, she really captivates you. I see bad ratings, well, if your center of interests are TMZ and Kim Kardashian, I feel your pain. Hard grader, demanding, but fair, very well rounded lectures.

The only people who gave her bad ratings probably are unable to analyze and make connections which is what is required for her essays, but this is a college course. She doesn't really care about students' needs and cannot answer students' questions. Lectures are awful. She spends lots of time telling the stories that she makes up. You do not learn anything from her lecture. Lots of reading but very useful. She cares about grammar. She has one mc test based on the reading and get ready to recite everything.

She is the worst I've ever have. 3 essays and 1 mc test. The test is tricky and the essays are difficult. You have to read the textbook and make tons of connection to each essay. Watch your grammar.

Professor Alma Rubai is very understandable, funny and interested in her class. She usually come to class early and like her students to smile all the time. She had few projects one of them in groups but you will enjoy every moment of her class.

there are like 3 papers you have to write, not too hard if you read or skim the textbook. 5 one page responses on articles. But her tests are tricky so you have to really know the material , but she made them worth less in our grades this semester so its not that bad. I took her for CBSE 2002 and I really enjoyed her class. Her lectures are very interesting and she puts them into real life situations. Oh, and she's very funny too! Her exams were very tricky but you just have to study and they are manageable. As for her response papers and the mid-term and final paper... piece of cake.

Excellent Prof. who expects students to learn and produce college level work. Papers are fair and final project is challenging but there's no reason not to get an A IF you follow instructions. Her tests are a breeze only IF you study. I learned a great deal in her class, studied, and had to earn my grade. Dr. Rubal-Lopez is Ivy League quality.

Comment:

Nice person but makes the class more difficult than it should be. Midterm/Final is difficult but somewhat manageable if you read the whole text thoroughly. She can teach and help you get thru the course, but she is a strict grader so don't take her if your GPA/grades are important to you.
