Comment:
If I hadn't needed this class for credit, I wouldn't have taken this course. Cranganu is well-versed in the class material but he often lectured the lessons as if his students would go on to become hydrogeologists in real life. Do well on the hws because they count for a huge portion of your final grade. Passing the exams only is not enough.

Prof Cranganu is a very nice person but not the best professor. He is a good professor but not the best I've had. I think he explains things clearly but he does go fast. He allows participation/questions but not if you're just talking about nonsense or complaining. He is a VERY fair grader. There's a midtem, final, and homeworks.

Refuses to repeat anything he has said. As well as gets annoyed to anyone who asks questions. Runs the class like a runaway train. Taking this class online may have been a mistake. The way this professor conducted the class. I am disappointed. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is so worried about his content he refused to share it with his students.

I don't understand the bad reviews. As long as you have a decent understanding of basic algebra & are able to follow directions, the lab work and homeworks are straightforward. Midterm/ final reviews as well as homework prepare you well for the exams, and most of the homework assignments don't take more than 10 minutes, especially the labs (excel).

Get ready to teach yourself everything, from complex formulas to excel troubleshooting. He doesn't know how to break down tasks or concepts to make them understandable and if asked to explain something or help with a broken lab file he literally says he doesn't have time or that we need to fix it on our own. Hugely inaccessible and unhelpful.

Professor Constantin Cranganu was very nice in the beginning of the semester, showed me the rocks in the lab, and took time to show me the differences. When Covid-19 happened and the transition to distance learning took place, I felt sick and it was hard for me. However, Professor Cranganu was exceptionally understanding and flexible. Thank You!

HES NOT THAT BAD GUYSSS!!! He does have a thick accent but he makes sure that he is understood. His tests are made up of his practice questions.... word for word. It's not a difficult subject to learn and can be fascinating at times. He gets very annoyed if you disturb or come late to his class. VERY EASY A!

Horrible professor avoid at all costs. Speaks in a really thick Albanian accent, unintelligible. Doesn't teach the material on the test in class and expects you to just know everything for the midterm and final. If you're one minute late to class you may as well just turn back because he locks the door and will not let you in no matter what.

Do not take his class. Constantly talks about his life and what hes done in life. He always goes off topic and ends up showing you pictures of when he went on vacation. His midterm and finals have nothing to do with the lectures, the questions he post on blackboard are the exact same questions that are on the test.

Do not take if you can help it. Lectures not helpful and all he talks about are his accomplishments and beliefs that climate change is not our fault. He does not go over the materials for the exams or make it easy to understand the PowerPoints. And God forbid you take your phone out, he will threaten to kick you out.

It's a shame that Professor Cranganu is one of few professors for a required class. When he isn't bragging about his accomplishments in the field he is spreading his anti-global warming propaganda on the class. We spent little time going over the class material and the results of his poor teaching style were obvious in the class exam grades

Horrible professor. During lecture he shows videos of field work and field equipment use instead of explaining or going into detail about how to do the very complicated and technical problems he assigns. He expects you to learn all of this on your own. Less than half the class shows up to his lectures as they are waste of time.

This man is an awful lecturer. He speaks very quickly with his horribly thick Romanian accent and hates repeating himself. If he is teaching using a very technical language, IE like in Hydrogeology, even native English speakers will be lost. He uses a textbook from 1996, and makes us learn solely from that without demonstrating equations. AVOID!!!

you learn nothing from him. talks about his life and being a geologist the whole time then expects you to turn to the computer and do the labs and answer the questions as if we're not here learning and already know the material/are professionals in the field.

He is not friendly and tough. His powerpoints are way too long to remember the information. One time after class, I went to ask him a question and gently tapped his shoulder to get his attention and he said, "Don't touch me!" Wow, rude and unnecessary. Might as well make this an online class if you don't like interacting with your students.

Comment:
Lectures are useless, textbook is useless, if you're able to memorize 350-400 answers from the practice tests he gives for a 50 question test then this is the class for you, if you can't, then expect to Fail. More than half of my class failed. He doesn't teach he just talks and talks. I learned absolutely nothing, wasted time and money.
