Professor Carasi is very caring once you pay attention and show interest in the subject matter. He has some quirks that can seem unreasonable but otherwise the class was easy. If you read the books assigned and do the assignments in a timely matter, you will do well.

It's been years since I took his class. Now that I am rating my professors I decided he deserved a review. I want to warn people to stay away from his classes. I had him for a week before dropping. He was incredibly rude and disrespectful about my southern accent. 3 years later I was in Italy teaching English. Don't give him a chance.

This man was the worst online class I have ever endured in my entire college experience. Avoid him at all cost as he is not clear on how he wants work done, and will be the absolute worst online class you will ever have.

He is a very chill professor and he works hard to develop good relationships with his students. He is very structured in his assignment formatting but it can be expected of a language class... he aims to make his class simple, workload is light and also a very generous grader. Itd be hard to get anything less than an A

Professor Girelli-Carasi is an outstanding educator, and his course was highly enriching, enlightening, thought provoking,and well-crafted. Stimulating free flow discussions were plentiful, and an online blog facilitated continued learning, idea exchange, and class morale as well. Assignments were short and meaningful, instead of lengthy and dull

He is tough but honest. He has many rules and gives out a lot of assignments. He expects everyone to read instructions carefully and follow the rules. From the very beginning of class he tells you how everything will run, so there are no surprises in terms of what he expects from his students. He is straightforward if you do the work you pass.

I can't sum up the joy of having this professor in 350 characters. He is passionate about getting students to work hard, because he wants you to learn and change your perspective. Everything he asks of you is to better your knowledge and growth. His class changed me, as well as his philosophy on life and education. I highly recommend taking him.

Comment:

I took Italian 1 and 2 with Prof. Carasi, and it was a good experience. Learning a new language can be pretty tough, and so the homework and classwork are meant to reinforce that learning process. Just do your work, show up to class on time, participate, seek out help when you need it, and you'll be grand b/c it's really as simple as that.

I took two courses with Carasi, first the core and the next semester Italian 1. I took it because he made me work hard but he made me enjoy reading the books of the core and I learned to write better. I am a science major. So I had 3 elective credits left and I took Italian 1 and enjoyed it a lot. I don't mind working and I like studying.

I took ITALIAN 1010 with this professor as an online class. He assigns 2 assignments a week and the format must be perfect or you will receive "no grade". He does not give any feed back on your work just posts the answers. He also belittles students, and speaks to his students is a rude condescending manor. I would NOT recommend this professor.

He is really a tough grader and has a lot of assignments due and you have to do them exactly as he wants them or you will get a 0 but he does that as a way to teach as a result I learned a lot in this class. He's also funny once you get to know him better. He really is a great Professor.

takes the idea of "hybrid" very literally.. must be ready to teach yourself everything from his website (class is meant just to practice speaking and pronunciation). Weekly assignments and quizzes and a tough grader without much structure. Seems like a very tough professor but its just his personality, was expecting a C- and got an A.
