Comment:

Euclidean Geometry is NOT an easy class, but at least he explains the material well, grades on a massive curve, and gave a take home final for the course. Textbook usage was limited to the open book midterms.

Comment:

Mike Hilden is one of the better math professors at UH. He tells stories, keeps things interesting, and explains most concepts clearly. He isn't especially friendly if you try to contest his grading of a problem, BUT if he made a mistake he will give you the points. This happened to me twice. However, I loved his New York accent.

1010 would take again. One of the best profs at UH Manoa. Entertaining, engaging, straightforward. Doesn't try to trick you on the tests. Great guy overall.

I can't believe these average and poor reviews about him. Professor Hilden is a legendary Math professor at UH Manoa who not only explains everything into detail, but also helped me understand proofs a lot easier. He allows open everything except for exchanging answers with other students. He's super chill and really nice. :)

If you want to learn calculus choose another professor. Yes exams are open book and open notes, but his teaching sucks! Every computation he attempts in class he computes wrong and ends up going back and trying to fix his mistake, confusing everyone even more than before. He also does not give partial credit for methods that are not taught by him.

Knowledgeable but lectures are extremely boring and often run in circles. Concepts are kind of foggy and hard to understand but reading the book suffices for his tests. He gives all open books, notes and laptops. Easy class but I don't feel prepared for higher math classes.

Professor Hilden is a great professor. Homework isn't mandatory, but it definitely prepares you for the test. Tests are fair. Also, definitely see him during office hours because he is SUPER helpful! Highly recommend!

Professor Hilden is a good professor. Homework was not mandatory, but should be done. The tests are fair with open notes, open book, even a computer is allowed! He is very helpful if you go in for office hours because he does the whole problem for you then rips the page out of his notebook and gives it to you, so you just have to sit and listen!

Overall Hilden was a great teacher who was able to explain things thoroughly. When I did not understand a concept in physics, it becomes clear to me after Hilden teaches it in class. Test are all open everything except other classmates. Test are usually very similar to the example problems he shows. If you don't understand, he is willing to help.

Professor Hilden is a very clear professor. His exams are open-anything; you are free to use your laptop, cell phone, any conceivable thing you can imagine. He has a generous policy that says he must be able to do his test problems in 5 minutes each.B/c of this, his exams are straight forward computation problems. He also is a visual teacher.

I believe that this professor is Hugh Hilden. Regardless, overall Dr. Hilden was a proficient professor. Explained the material relatively well, and gave fair exams. His exams were open notes and open book, so by nature it was easier. Sadly, this does not prepare individuals for higher levels of mathematics should they need to take them.

If you are bad at math and just need a MA100 credit do NOT take this professor. Very ambiguous and vague about examples he gives in class. He gives the weirdest examples that only a math major would understand. I go to class everyday and still get Cs on tests. Be cautious of this professor, his tests aren't clear and do not include class examples

Worthless Math 100 class. Teacher is ok at best. Drops the lowest two of six tests. HW is online and stupid. Class is lame. Do not take it. Find another way to fulfill the requirement.

EASY A...6 exams and a overall homework grade. Lowest 2 are dropped and then a curve is added to final grade. Pointless to come to class, cant understand teacher and barely anything he goes over is on exam. But, you can use BOOK,NOTES,INTERNET for exams so even if you dont understand subject its not too hard to find answers yourself

Unclear. The homework does not relate much to the exams. He doesn't explain well in class. Yes, he drops the two lowest scores and you can use notes and the book, but still, the exams don't really cover what you have went over. His explanations in class are bad...a lot of people walk out and get upset because he doesn't explain well.

EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEASSSSSSYYY, as long as you do the online homework, you'll know what we're covering in class. Open book&open note exams, he curves them all. Impossible to fail.

Very boring professor and his "exams" do not relate to the online homework most of the time. They're mainly based on what he teaches you in class and he really sucks at explaining. I would NOT recommend this professor for MATH 100. Plus, I thought his name was Hilden..?
