Jessie is clearly passionate about Latin American and that's what makes her classes so great. If you show up, read, and turn in work it should be quite easy to get an A.

Comment:

Jessie cares about Latin America and social issues. Her class was a breath of fresh air. Lots of discussions and would be difficult for somebody who likes hard facts and clear answers. The situation is Latin America is complex and you feel that in this class.

Comment:

As long as you follow her instructions and submit your assignments on time, you'll likely get a high GPA. Jessie is passionate about teaching and cares for her students. I would say she is an understandable teacher and wants her students to succeed in her class. Quizzes/midterms are pretty straightforward. Finals in LAMS 1100 & 1101 are take home!

I took this Intro to Latin American studies, it was taught by Jesse and 2 other professor, all 3 were great. Jesse gives great lectures, is very clear of her expectations and gets the class involved in hands on/ interactive learning. Participation and paying attention is key with Jesse

Comment:

She is passionate, and I enjoyed her teaching a lot. Her powerpoints and in-class movies are useful for the exam. Her exam is a take-home exam which is nice for some people. She is vague about what she wants and there aren't many assignments to know if you are doing it right before the exam. Ask her to look over a sample answer before the exam

Comment:

Professor Smith emphasizes class discussion a bit too much. In this course, there were a lot of writing assignments for one course. She uses daily quizzes as an incentive for students to come to class. I would recommend this class if you are interested in Latin America's politics and history.

Comment:

Jessie is a good teacher, she enjoys what she is teaching and makes class enjoyable. I did find there were too many group activities, one every class, but make sure you attend her classes because she tests from the activities and videos watched in class.

Great teacher, Loves her subject and makes it interesting for students. Very informative and thought provoking class. Has far right left view, socialist style. Students will do better with similar views

Jesse is really clear in her lectures and overheads. She speaks a lot from experiences in her classes- when discussing the impacts of the IMF or World Bank, she has been to the countries in Latin America that have been affected and also to the confrernces
