Comment:

I took this class near the beginning of corona, so the class format could've changed since, but this class was rough. It felt like we had essays due every week, and they were long and tedious. I'm pretty sure I actually wrote 12 pages one week, and that wasn't even a midterm or final paper :( I think she means well, but I do not recommend.

Nice woman, but everything we talked about in this course was mind-numbingly boring. I love English, I'm a strong writer, I've never had a problem in a writing course, but it's her way or the high way in this class and she's not adaptable to what works for people individually.

This teacher is one of the worst ones at Depaul. I know what other classes were doing and our class was doing unnecessary tasks to void the time. This class is required and she seems to be the only one who doesn't understand that. She is the head of the WRD group so she is strict and uptight. Would suggest taking another teacher.

Class is a lot of work, I mean it's a graduate course. LOTS of reading per week and attendance is required every week. Professor is nice but is a tough grader. Again: graduate course. 3 papers, 2 presentations. 10+ page final at the end and mini-conference about it in front of class. But professor is willing to help in and outside the class prior.

(Class for Chicago Women's Rhetors) No textbooks needed. LOTS of reading, all online. They're not hard to understand but it's just a lot. Super nice professor, willing to meet outside of class. Have to write 3 (2 page) summary papers. Research project presentation & paper. There's a lot of work for the final, not hard.

She really takes time to help her students and goes out of her way to make sure everybody's on top of their assignments. Also very quick at responding to emails. It's a writing class so expect a lot of papers, but Professor Bokser goes through the writing process thoroughly and makes it as simple as possible.

She tends to give assignments that are very blunt and have no point. She's incredibly opinionated and has no room to be; it's either you write the way that she or the people she presents does. Please, don't take her class unless you can stand someone that is uptight and biased.

Lots of busy work and lots of reading, on top of your essays due. She is very passionate about her class. But it is not an interesting course. Unlike other WRD classes you are not writing about interesting topics. All your essays are topics arguing something like "what is good writing". This professor's class is seriously writing about writing...

I loved having Professor Bokser as my teacher! I'm a pretty strong writer but find writing completely boring.. She really helped make it bearable. Loved how she gave feedback, it was really helpful and it really helped you get a good grade and learn how to write well!

If you like writing and you like working in groups then this is your class. We get to write 4 essays on whatever topic, but be careful. Bokser is extremely critical of her students' writing. She gave me my first B- on a paper EVER! If you can handle criticism then you will do find in her class. Cool prof. overall.

At first she is very intimidating, but she's actually a really sweet lady. I learned so much in her class. There is a lot of reading and writing, but it's worth it. You will learn a lot about rhetoric! My favorite WRD class thus far! Take her if you're willing to work.

I'm sorry to say she is one of the bad professor of depaul. Her assignments are pointless, and what we do in class is pointless. I didn't learn anything in her class and her grading is confusing and hard to understand. Just don't waste your time with her class, she may seem fun and interested, you can be fooled by that.

My writing improved greatly with her help. She picks great essays and articles for reading. However, sometimes she can come off as if her viewpoint is the only correct way to look at something. She has a hard time reading a text in any other way than her own interpretation. I recommend her, but if you are stubborn with your writing, i would pass

Good teacher, good class. I thought she was a very easy grader (I got my A). I learned quite a bit about rhetoric and it's history that I know I will be able to use outside the classroom. She is mainly interested in the content and logic of what your writing about. I would recommend this class and her to anybody.

Comment:

i thought she was a good teacher. She didn't hold everyone to one standard. She really worked with people to make them work to their full potential. She concentrated on individual growth, rather than comapring you to everyone else in the class. She's really nice too.
