I am not a fan of ENGL classes, but this had to have been of the best classes I've taken due to Prof Chowdhury and the class content. He really cares for each student and gives really good feedback in a timely manner. Very assessable outside of class. Very relevant topics and discussions. He is very passionate about the subjects. Would take again.

I would personally never take another class from Dr. Chowdhury again, lectures are painfully long and not just due to the time, but he goes on and on about the same topic for 20 minutes at a time. If you arent an english major, you will probably find this class to be a complete waste of your time.

Comment:

The class moved online in the middle of the semester, but Chowdhury did a WONDERFUL job keeping the class engaged. It's a discussion based class, and as long as you participate, you'll pass. You get to write informally about topics you're interested in. I learned so much in this class, and thoroughly enjoyed it!

One of the best classes I've ever taken. Class was mostly discussion, and Dr. Chowdhury always asks the best questions that really get you thinking. Essays were not dreadful, because the topics and prompts posed were always things you actually would wanna write about. For sure take him if you get the chance

Comment:

Chowdhury makes students think critically about everything they learn and have learned. He's understanding with deadlines and will always hype up your papers. You can tell he really cares about the subject and that what makes this class worth taking. I took this class for writing to learn. Would recommend.

I took ACST 200 last spring with Professor Chowdhury & if I could take it again I would. At first things went over my head, but when I got used to lectures I fell in love with the class! I got more out of his class than almost any other class I've taken in college.

Dr. Chowdhury is THE professor to take if you want to work hard, read a lot, and be incredibly inspired. It was very clear all semester that he wanted us to come away from the class with a sense of purpose and know how we can create positive change. Can't say enough great things about him -- Don't pass up the opportunity to take his class!

All-around great professor - one of the smartest ones I've ever had. He really cares about the material and isn't afraid to diverge from the material on a given day if the class is really passionate about something. He really encouraged us to be active members of society and think deeply/critically.

I noted to expect homework in the tags, this may differentiate on the work you do outside of class. Chowdhury's rubric for Intensive Writing is that students have 4 papers in the semester surrounded by shorter 350 word responses. His grading is very understanding. Overall, Dr. Chowdhury is a great Professor, and days when papers are due no class!

I took the race class with Dr. Chowdhury and loved him. He is a great professor. He is really clear and engages people into the class material. There is a somewhat large amount of writing, but he is relatively easy when it comes to grading.

I took Lit of Social Change with Chowdhury and it was one of the best classes I've taken at UST. He helps you dissect and comprehend all of the readings, while making it all incredibly interesting. I loved his class and it helped in convincing me to pursue a minor in American Culture & Difference.

First day of class he detailed the differences between classic and postmodern approaches to literature. I voiced my extreme displeasure with the postmodern take, but that never turned him off or manifested itself in his grading. He was the first bright, engaging, solid step in the right direction for me as an English major. Lot of Essay-reading.

This class covered a fairly novel field of study, globalization. This means some of the topic matter was confusing, oscillating between econ, culture studies, lit theory, etc. Nevertheless, Chowdhury has an edge on the issues (as usual) and will lead you through it.

Great Prof! I loved his class. At first, he was intimidating but later on when you really got to know him, it was easy to see that he's a great guy and really does care about your education. There is a lot of homework that I would recommend doing, but it's actually interesting! I would highly highly recommend him.
