The best prof I had in my Math Education program at Brooklyn College. Very smart, very engaged with her students and the community. Will challenge you, but in a good way -- few professors in the education field treat their subject with the intellectual rigor and academic honesty of Professor Rubel.

I agree with previous poster. I do not feel comfortable expressing my political views which are clearly different from hers. I am just getting through, writing a paper that she acts like is the end of the world, and I will finish and get away from her and all the dogma of brooklyn college and teach the REAL WORLD. Education is a JOKE.

Rubel demonstrates better than any teacher I've encountered the constructivist teaching style. Extremely effective, allows for real immersion in the math, and a must for all educators - whether you agree with constructivism or not. Experience it as a student would! She's also remarkably knowledgeable, intentional, and compassionate.Highly recommend!

Just don't get on her bad side. We didn't see eye to eye and she made it clear that i was WRONG. Her research class makes it easy for her to put you down, but there's no choice. She is the only one who teaches it! Good grief! But I didn't get much out of any of the ed courses at BC. I would start over somewhere else if I could. I haven't learn

not impressive. why do we have to do these stupid education courses? professors like her act like what they are doing is so important - but nothing she does has anything to do with reality. it's like the courses are all a joke that we are all forced to go through. I just don't have time for all this bull. let's get real!!
