Comment:
I have to say she's a very nice person but her SPA322 this year is really poorly organized. Not being boastful, but I have been a grade-A student in linguistics and she made me doubt myself and feel hopeless. If you want to take SPA322 and the instructor is she again, RUN.

She was great, she encouraged the students to ask questions, and discuss the material in class while giving back good feedback. Overall she was very supportive. Her class was tough though. She makes you think and you have to do lots of readings in order to keep up with the lectures. It was challenging but I learned a lot in the end.

Comment:
Attention perspective students, if you consider taking classes with her this is a huge mistake. People reported her for academic bullying and discrimination. If you still decide to take her class make sure you check all her rules. Some are usually contrary to the universitys policy.

Comment:
She's nice as a person, but lacks a lot when it comes to teaching. She's prone to unexpected bouts of frustration and bitterness for those who have a hard time understanding advanced grammar, and tends to exacerbate issues in place of resolving them (this is a 4th year course mind you). One of the hardest classes I've ever taken, hands down.

Assignments were challenging. This course requires a lot of self study and practice. However, it is very doable! Cuervo's lectures were super helpful and clear.

Terrible. Slides are very not helpful, read the wholeeee book and try to understand it, even though she makes syntax super hard.. and gives super hard assignments which you can never find answers from the book...she claims that you should use your own brain.....good luck for those who cannot drop it

So far, a very effective and thorough professor. She uses good examples and makes excellent use of her visuals during lecture despite the fact that a lot of information often needs to be crammed within the threshold of two hours. She is fair enough to post lectures online, and had the (in my opinion) brilliant idea of weekly tests.

Syntax with her is just hell. She can't teach! She talks AT the class and uses way too much powerpoint. Posting the slides IS helpful, but she should draw on a board to show us step by step how to do things! Syntax is pretty mathematical but she blabs in such a disorganized manner! Has no clue where the students stand and picks the WORST TA ever!

The material was very hard, despite which I got a B+ in the course from studying hard. Cuervo is by far the worst language teacher I have had. She provided me with the answers to the term test after asking her. A prof should post clear, concise test solutions on his/her website and/or distribute such solutions in class.

This prof holds grudges against students for very silly reasons. Grades according to who she likes best, particularly for participation. Actual participation and quality of comments does not matter. Fortunately, the TA graded several assignments allowing the students that she didn't like to still recieve good grades.

Cuervo is amazing, very helpful and funny! Please, don't anyone be put off by the other comments here. As they've stated, they did poorly in the class, and want to blame it on the prof (because they're mature like that) Cuervo is fabulous!!!

Why can't she post the answers to our homework as we go along instead of posting them the last week? We need them for our learning, we are ****ing mature enough to use the answers appropriately. Her pace is so slow that she never gets to cover evrythng
