A lot of people like this professor. I wouldnt recommend his online classes as much as during the pandemic because his teaching style is mainly by lecturing. Just doesnt translate as well through zoom.

Matt Brown is probably one of the best teachers I have had. He is really personal and cares about his students a lot. Even in the middle of a pandemic, he tries his hardest to keep everyone happy and helps in many ways. Definitely my favorite professor so far.

Matt is a hell of a guy, very interesting and challenges the norm of teaching. The type of prof. who does not let you zone out in class and will have you think about it out of class. Take him if you can!

Love this man! took his class last semester for fun and I fell in love with his teaching style, even though its less like teaching and more like loosely directed conversation with nobody in particular. He's never mean. Will not grade anything until the end of the semester but he WILL grade it, so just put in some effort and you'll b fine. Recomend!

Dude is wild, always cracking jokes, actually really smart although he may not come off that way. You will pretty much watch movies, you won't do anything else, for real. There is one assignment, a ten page paper on a book you have read, so read at least one book in the class, the others don't matter.

Not too much work required, but readings are a must to understand the lecture. Offers exposure to a variety of works. Don't expect to know your grades until end of the semester. Relaxed classroom environment. Teacher offers a lot of different perspectives to the readings.

Matt Brown is an amazing professor. There is no mandatory attendance but, his intellectual insight is spectacular so don't miss out on it. His "quizzes" are spastically given and they require you to write one word down. SUPER easy class. HOWEVER, there are daily writing assignments that correlate to the readings. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!!

Matt Brown is my favorite professor. For those that didn't like 350: I get it, you don't like unstructured learning environments. BUT, what you don't get is Matt's point: 350 is all about fostering social justice. The topics intricately intertwine with the goal of lifting your individualistic perspective high enough so that you can see this.

He goes off topic a lot. I submitted an assignment and used everything that he said in class and he didn't even remember making ME look like I made it up. So many people don't pay attention because most of the things he says are pointless and have nothing to do with the class. But, I had to take it for the Pathway. Won't suggest class to friends.

Easily the funniest, most creative, most insanely-sane person that I have ever met. You'll learn a lot about yourself and the world around you while dying from the ludacris stand up that he presents every other day. He's a man with a brilliant mind and a grey first impression. I'd take this class every semester if I could.

Mr. Brown is an all around good instructor. The class is odd because you'll jump from Jazz music to refrigerators to propaganda videos to motorcycle clubs, but it's got very little homework and practically no tests. Just show up, write a little at home, and this class hardly exists. It's a great class that doesn't require a whole lot.

TAKE HIM TAKE HIM! all you gotta do is read and respond. His lectures are interesting in class and he goes over what you read in class the night before so you're solid. only has a midterm and final no pop quizzes or group thinking or anything (: easy class.

His class is pretty cool. He usually has a reading assignment with a response and the readings are sometimes long but aren't hard in the least! Then in class he goes over the reading to make sure everyone understood the main points. He can get very sidetracked but that's his charm. Only has a Midterm and a Final and hes interesting to listen to.

Wonderfully interesting course on American culture, civil rights, jazz history and life. My only complaint was that the student presentations were pretty boring to sit though....which was definitely not the case when Dr. Brown lectured. I've heard that his 458 course is wonderful too.

An amazing professor. Very passionate about what's being taught, and cares about our learning process instead of just the grade. He doesn't treat his students like they're inferior, but as equals. He guides us, and it's so refreshing to have a teacher like him. He truly cares about our learning experience.

He's an engaging, passionate lecturer and very fun to listen to. The minimal amount of busy work and little testing makes it easy to slack off, but you're cheating yourself if you do. He's very helpful and motivated towards helping you succeed, and his assignments are thought-provoking.

There was literally no point to go to his class. There was a reason when out of 90 students only 15-20 show up. He's a nice guy, and has a lot to share with the class. However, none of readings or assignments are good for anything. In fact, I don't even think he checked any of our work! I think he all just gave us the same grade!!!
