Michelle is extremely helpful and really wants you to improve and succeed in the class. If she doesn't like something, it's not because it wasn't her style, it's because there is room for improvement. She is very available to meet with and talk to about your work. She is very friendly and intelligent. If you put effort in, she will recognize it.

Michelle Van Parys is BY FAR one of the worst professors I have had at CofC. I did not have her for Photography 1 or 2 and because of this she always pointed me out to "explain" things to me. She gives destructive comments like "Show me something that's actually good". Unless your work looks like hers she doesn't like it.

Awesome teacher. I wasn't sure if I would be goot at photography but now I'm considering making it my concentration. She's really helpful and knows a lot about photography. Definitely one of my favorite professors at the college so far.

I am a photo major, and I learned everything I know about photography from Michele. She helped me discover my passion for photo, and she is always open to new ideas and experimentation. Amazing teacher! Take her if you have the chance-she'll change your life!

michelle is an awesome teacher. my photogrpahy has improved ten fold because of her. she wants you to realize that a photographer can take good pictures- but they need to move in a direction to make a statement. i feel that the students who complained about her were insecure of their work and the ones who were always tardy or turned in late work

Loved the class.. it was really easy. Michelle is helpful but sometimes I felt intimidated. Does pick favorites and I thought I might've been one of them at one time, but I didn't recieve an A, only a B. Still recommended.

Favortism. Didnt have her for 1 or 2 cuz she was dept chair. the 6 of us like this she hated, the 6 she had previously she adored. they turned in assignments late or not at all, got As. We were there on time, with all our work, and got B-Cs. Does not allow personal dev. (unless your a fav), all my projs were her ideas, sucks shes the only adv prof.

Michelle is awesome! One of the best professors I have had at CofC. She really cares about you and wants to help. I loved this class! However, beware that it is A LOT of outside work a week. She mentions it on the first day but I didnt really think it would be as much as it was. Definitely 5-10 hours.

Michelle is good for teaching the basics but when you have your own ideas about the work you are doing, she is not interested. She wants things done her way. She doesn't give students the freedom to develop ideas but she is also very unclear about what she wants but will still take points off of your grade.

These are fine art classes!!! You will be developing your own film and printing your work. Michelle is great, she really inspired me. You will need... an open mind, time, money (initial cost can be high if you don't own a camera), a good attitude, a good work ethic, patience, a desire to have fun and experiment.

She is awsome! The class is so much fun, but probably more work than any other class I have taken in the last 6 yrs. @ CofC. Very helpfully and honest about your work. Explains to you why or why not your images work. Don't take if you have a problem w/ construstive critisim. Most Awsome Class Ever

I love photography and Michelle helped improve my skills. First few classes consist of mainly reading/quizzes. After that you're basically on your own except when she's giving demonstrations. Fairly easy to talk to. Answers questions precisely. Don't miss your assigned class meetings!
