I had Dr. Levinson for a graduate level Cultural Foundations of Education class at Kent State. The course centered around the socio-political aspects of education and the teaching profession. The course was extremely well structured so that she simply facilitated student-led learning. Made you think about intricate topics and reflect deeply.

Levinson is a good professor. She expects active daily participation as well as in-depth analyses of the readings, but I really didn't mind it. She is there to offer assistance and review papers with you before the due date. She uses a Seminar style method to teach, so either learn to speak up in class or your grade will be docked.

Dr.L is an awesome professor! She's so nice and cares about her students. Seminar/debate style class. Lots of reading for HW, though I never do. I don't think it's really needed to pass the class. No tests, just 4 papers throughout the semester. Participation is a huge aspect of the grade. She mainly lets the students give their opinions all class

Dr. L is a great, engaging and insightful professor. She encourages participation and critical thinking from all of her students and makes sure all opinions are respected. There was lot of reading but it was all relevant information. Essays were the only concrete assignments and she heavily bases grades on organization and grammar, so be thorough.

Tough assignments, but they were great lessons and really applicable to the topics! Made me inspired and want to learn. Used two actual books, nonfiction, instead of a textbook. Worked well with other materials and were easy to read and cheap.

A scholarly philosopher - know what that means going in.... learning and debating ( seminar style classes) ideas is the ticket here. Be prepared- cannot bluff ur way thru seminar discussions & future papers. There is a lot of writing - pays off -you will become a different person after her class. Very helpful! Most materials provided/avail library

I had Dr. L for Honors Education in a Democratic Society. She's so fun to have as a teacher and is incredibly knowledgable in her field. Her class involves a lot of reading outside of class and in-class discussions. We had to write 4 papers for the semesters and never took a test. She's always willing to help with your paper before you turn it in.

She's been one of my favorite professors all semester. You can tell she is really passionate about education and it made me even more willing to pay attention in class. She tries really hard to know all of her students on a personal level and it makes the class a lot better

I love Dr. Levinson! She can be a little hard to understand, especially because she has an extensive vocabulary, but you can tell she's passionate about education. She doesn't grade too difficultly, but you aren't going to get a good grade unless you do everything she asks of you. Really great professor, especially for this class!

Overall, I enjoyed the class and learned a lot from it! Dr. Levinson is a great professor, and she is extremely knowledgable about the subject.

Very fair with grading. Her class is fun, you do a lot of moving around but it gets you involved in the discussion. Good class!!

Dr. Levinson is a fantastic teacher. She thinks aloud quite a lot, but it's intelligent. She gives great insight and is very easy going. She has a lot of work, but it's never busy work. The papers were a better judgement than tests even without a rubric. Take her classes if you can!

She is an okay professor. I appreciated her enthusiasm for education, but she always tried to be super ambiguous. Sometimes I think she talked just to hear herself. There is a lot of independent research and discussion for the basis of the class. You do the same thing every day. Make sure you attend every class so you don't get lost

HONORS: Dr. L is a good teacher; sometimes she treats grading your papers more like an English class than an education class. Her grades are very ambiguous and she doesn't really give rubrics for them. Readings and research are heavily assigned. I would still recommend her class. She knows what she's talking about and it's fun.

HONORS SECTION. this class requires alot of research&dedication to writing the deliberation papers. i found the research&topics covered in class discussions very interesting as an aspiring teacher. reading assignments can be overwhelming, make sure you have time to dedicate to the homework. go to her office hrs if you are having troubles, it helps!

So scatter brained! Frequently forgot to tell half the class about assignments. Changes assignments, forgets to tell you. Never returns papers until the last minute. Expects you to figure out tech problems she can't, grade depends on it. Emails assignments night before class, expects them to be fully done. Nice but completely lost.

Honors Education in a Democratic Society was a great class. Dr. Levinson is a personable professor and really got us thinking like teachers. We had a lot of really interesting discussions. There is a lot of reading, but as long as you participate and do the papers to a satisfactory level, an A or B should definitely be achievable.
