I've never actually taken one of Mr. Barrett's classes, but I do study with him privately and I can honestly say that this man is one of the kindest, most generous people I've ever met. I am not only becoming a better singer working with him, but also a better person.

Too personal as a professor. Get ready to be in the dog house if he does not like you for whatever reason. Does not teach anything, his workshop is his playground. -This is partially due to the broken system of CUNY, teachers become lazy, detrimental to students once they get tenure since they literally cannot get fired.

This man should no longer be teaching...anyone. He does not teach, he brings in students from his voice program in Italy and sits in a corner and lets them sing, he does not teach, he tells stories. He is also consistently late for classes.

Professor Barret hardly ever comes to class. When he does he spends the entire time rambling on about his many traveling expeditions. I learned nothing about opera and half of the music isn't learned come time for the performance. He has favorites too.
