Super tough grader. Literally said my writing was terrible. Sometimes talks down to you and makes you feel dumb, but she's willing and able to help if you have the guts to ask for it.

Comp 1 is wonderful taking from her; you write 1 paper, but 6 drafts. She seems tough, and exclaims that she is, but she is good at what she does. There are a lot of times that we don't actually meet for class because she has days scheduled for one on one conferences with the students to talk about their papers.

She's rough around the edges but she's got an amazing philosophy on how to teach a freshman English class. It's true, one essay revised all semester, but it teaches you how to be GOOD at writing. It helps with description and critical thinking skills. She also gives 'writing days' which helps A LOT. No, good writing will not happen in the classroom

Dr. Tangney can be very intimidating, but once she realizes you're a contributing member of the student population with some intelligent things to say, things go smoothly. A hard woman, but fair, and her special topics are always interesting.
