Never need to actually show up for the class. Always allowed you to used a sheet of paper to put any answers or homework problems for the tests. Often made mistakes on the board. If you're looking for an easy class take this.

If you are looking for the class to just complete your gen ed catogory, take it with him. However, if you want to actually learn something do not take it with him. If you take a long time taking the test and go up to him and ask him a question about the exam he will flat out tell you the answer.

Comment:

Very slow and doesn't teach very well, makes a lot of mistakes on the board. Never prepared, we waited almost 3 weeks to get our first exam back. If math 121 is the highest level math you need and you dont care for it, then go for it, but if you want to learn something, then find a different teacher.

Comment:

He seemed really scatterbrained and kind of lost in his own world sometimes. I didn't really have trouble with his class, but he ended up giving me someone elses score and I had to go in and talk to him and have it fixed. Overall I thought he was nice and kind of funny. He also used games and drawings to help us understand. It was nice.

If you can avoid taking Nelson for math, do. He spends 50mins on one or two problems. Doesn't teach the students how to do the problems, he basicaly does it for himself. Don't ask question, you're better off cause he will confuse you like never before. Cancelles class for more than aday, so you end up showing up every and heading back home.

He gives a lot of examples in class, but I found it hard to stay awake in class. His tests are not too hard. He gives you sample tests that are basically like the test. Only take his class if you already know a lot of math because you don't learn too much new.

He hardly shows up for class..sometimes just skips without telling you. He does tell you whats going to be on the test but most of the time is really vague. Plainly he just misses a lot of class. He's not very smart, he told us he doesn't know how to do math. Don't expect a lot out of this teacher or this class.

Tony Nelson-a big goof.He doesn't really know much about math that is for sure. One day he tried convincing us that 17+1=19.And then he realized he was wrong.He is super boring and wastes class time on 1 or 2 problems.It is rather annoying.If u have 2 take 110,take it w/ him.Never get homework.studyguides are identical to tests.

Prof. Nelson, what can I say? He may not be liked by some of the students, but I think he is a good guy. He is funny, and when he isn't, he at least tries to make the class fun by telling jokes and playing games. He is helpful, if you take the time to talk to him after/before class.

Horrible teacher, never knows what he is doing. He is the laziest person i know. Everything is graded on your tests, and no homework ever. Very easy class, but do not get anything out of it.

If you're only taking Calc 1 because it's required for your major and math isn't your strength, Tony makes the class pretty easy. However, if you plan on taking Math 122 and beyond, I do not recommend him. He did not cover all the material he should have, and missed a total of 2 weeks of lecture.

My problem with nelsen is that he's way too slow. If the other students can't handle a decent pace, I shouldn't have to suffer for it--they shouldn't be in the class. The last two chapters for this semester he spends about two days on each...which doesn't work. I had to learn it on my own.
