One of the best professors in the school. Yes he is hard, but in these financial times I am glad I understand economics. I hope I can find more professors like him when I start my MBA program. Thanks Marty!!!

He is a very smart and sincere man, though I wonder if he is still teaching. This class is for people who like economics and will put in the time and effort. For others, it will be a nightmare.

Marty expects a lot from his students. You HAVE to read the textbook. He grades very strictly on exams, you have to answer questions his way. (2 exams and 2-3 short essay questions in each). You are lucky if he is proctoring the test because there was cheating for those who sat in the back. I got an A- and that broke the 4.0 for my Major GPA

I've taken three courses with Prof. Marty and it's a shame he is retiring. One of the few professors at Baruch who truly understood economics. Baruch isn't an economics powerhouse and as such students complained he was too hard, but he expected the same of us as his pupils at Northwestern or Columbia. Learned a tremendous amount from the man.

What a nice man; the subject might be dull for some, but the atmosphere he creates behind the subject matter is what keeps you coming. You must read the book - and that will get you through the exams, even if you don't understand his teaching.

Definitely not recommended. I really don't think this man should be teaching, at least not anymore. Maybe he was good once. He is the most arrogant person I have come across; this isn't the way someone in a professional institution should compose themselves. To say that Baruch students are dumb is not the way you should speak about your scholars

MARTY!!!! He is the man! Ok his class was more confusing then most things, but that's only because I was honestly being lazy and not reading the book. You have to be prepared for him and his class. Once you do that its simple and he has amazing perspective and intelligence to bring fourth. I almost dropped, but a I stayed and worked for the B

All I have to say is that Baruch has some really DUMB students....some dont even know what per annum means...lol. He is a really good prof. that wants you to learn. Very helpful and explains things clearly. Dont take the class if youre not interested in eco or if your basic understanding of eco is shaky.

Ok, Just to let everyone know. If your not an eco major and just wanting an A-DONT TAKE HIM. There is no easy A in this class. However, I am told by a few eco prof and Google that this guy if for real. He teaches for you to know and to grow not to learn. If you have an interest in this and want fine tuning he would be a good PhD prof not undergrad

er... where do i start. I am so disappointed with this class. I thought it would be interesting and very informative but instead it's just left me confused. I am sure this guy is smart, but the organization of the course is awful. He doesn't explain things in detail and expects us to know it all already... very frustrating to say the least.

Terrible . Never assigns any problems in the text which might help reinforce concepts; and the book has no answer key so you can't do it on your own. I have only gotten confused taking his class. He tells us what we should know, but does not teach us the concepts. He is the second worst teacher I have had at Baruch.

This is a hard course. I worked hard and got a grade of B. You really need to study to get through in this course. One midterm and one final. But you actually learn from this class. The midterm had 3 questions and final has 4 questions.
