Comment:
He takes himself and his class seriously. He is interested in his students and encourages meetings during office hours. His way of teaching is unique as he probes few questions from the reading and encourages students to engage in hypothetical scenarios, which I found to be effective. Engaging, intelligent, and his acerbic wit defines him.

Great teacher! Really engaging discussions which left us in the dust! Really enthusiastic, sometimes a bit hard to follow but really nice :) :) :)

Comment:
He is intensely smart and pushes his students to think more deeply. I disagreed with him about most issues and he loved it, so I take issue with a previous comment that he favors students who share his views.

Comment:
Arthur is clearly above the level of the pseudo-intellectuals at the K-school. I felt like talking to him was about as hard as the wrestling I did in undergrad, but, like wrestling, I thought it was worth it in the end. Sorry, kids, if you don't like having to think rigorously and be concise. He is a great, thoughtful prof. Gave me an A as well.

Comment:
This guy has been riding his elitist horse at the K-School for too long. Bright, certainly, but about as aloof as a human being can get. Perhaps that is what the K-School wants? I certainly did not enjoy having him as a prof.

His class discussions are generally interesting. Pretty interesting in class. But self-important and has a reputation for bad-mouthing students behind backs. Grading seems to be biased towards whether you agree with his intellectual positions or not. Very different grades and comments depending on whether he's doing the grading or the TF is.

Applbaum is eccentric. I found it hilarious. He knows and likes his students. He is refreshingly inclusive. Smart as a whip, but sometimes leaves the class behind because of it. Open to criticism. Not suceptable to BS. Good guy. Trying class.
