Comment:

Do not skip this class. Period. If you skip consistently you will fail, as only exams are graded and Ds are hardly given. That said, if you actually go the class is fairly easy. Dr. Fane teaches well and doesn't throw curveballs on exams. He will make sure you know exactly what to expect too, but only if you go to class. Can't emphasize it enough.

Comment:

Dr. Fane is one of my favorite professors so far. The material is difficult and there's a lot of it, but you will never be surprised on the exam. He tells you everything you need to know for the exams. Go to class, take good notes and do the practice problems and you will do just fine. If you did bad in ochem I would retake it or relearn it!!

Comment:

Dr. Fane is the best professors that I've had the opportunity to learn from during my time at the University of Arizona. While I've learned from him in a lab setting, he's put a tremendous amount of effort into seeing that I succeed both personally and academically. Dr. Fane will go above and beyond as long as you put in the effort. Take him!!!

Great professor with a straight forward approach. Tells you exactly what will be on the exams & actually spends class time doing the whole study guide with you. If you go to class and just study the study guide there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A. There is no homework just three exams and if you get As on all of those there is no final

Unless you enjoy memorizing and writing out every linear structure and hydrogen for over 100's of molecules/ amino acids by memorization only, then do NOT take this class. Lectures are incredibly dry, must memorize every point of material from lecture and regurgitate only a few diagrammed reactions he chooses for your grade made from three tests.

Tough class, great lecturer. Dr. Fane is brilliant and gives funny, and excellent lectures. But you MUST study, this is definitely NOT an easy class. Exams are straightforward. Go to class, many people have had to take the class twice to pass. Reasonable professor.

Go to every lecture. Do not miss a lecture by any means. He provides study guides that are just like the test. If you get an A on all 3 test you don't have to take the final. If you aren't good at memorizing do not take this course. A lot of memorizing is required to pass the tests but you will learn a lot too. He's kinda rude and disrespectful.

He is the most disrespectful, rude professor I have ever had. He told me to my face that I was 'stupid' and that I am disruptive in class because I ask questions about course material. He acts irritatedannoyed when asked questions.

Respected in his field and by students, but he does not care to be your friend. He makes it clear he is there to teach you, and wants you to do well, but does not care about you personally. So any sob stories you have, keep it to yourself. Clear divide between A students and F students, put in the work and go to class and you will get an A.

Dr. Fane is tough but if you go to class you can pull an A in the class. There is a lot of material but you have to want it. I went from a 60 on the first exam, to a 100 on the final and an A in the class. It's going to be hard but you have to be determined. It ended up being one of my favorite classes in college.

I came in to this class terrified. I had not done well in OChem and I was worried that I would be very unprepared. However, I was able to pull an A out with an immense amount of work. This class IS doable. You just have to want it. Dr. Fane is helpful and is very clear on what he expects. GO TO CLASS and you'll do just fine.

Professor Fane was my favorite professor in college. He was extremely helpful and his lectures were entertaining, even at 8am. I was excited to go to his class because I knew I wouldn't be bored to tears. Loved this class. Highly recommend.

Dr. Fane is a fantastic teacher, IF you want to learn and don't just expect to be handed an A. Yes, the class is at 8am but I promise that if you go to class....you will walk away with not only an A, but a better understanding of the biochemical pathways.

Great teacher. He really knows his stuff. Everything tested on will be in his lecture. It's very straightforward. You will learn a LOT. He will go out of his way to help you learn the material. There's never a trick question on the test and you will be well prepared for the test. 3 A's on the first 3 tests allows you to drop the final.

Comment:

This class single handedly killed my interest in Micro. Fane expects everyone to come prepared with A's in O-chem and Biochem. Rediciulous amounts of content to MEMORIZE, I don't care what Fane says. God help you, do not take a full load with this class.
