PART 2: You also have to know a plethora of definitions. She's also strict on spelling, if you spell something wrong on a test, even if she knows what you're talking about, she'll mark your answer wrong. This is infuriating because she constantly marks/spells things wrong on her lectures &study material, &she often spells things 2-3 different ways

PART 1: This is pt 1 of my rant. DO NOT take this class, especially if you have a horrible/less than average memory. There are a trillion things you must memorize, 4-6 facts per picture for 40 or so pictures per unit. Some of the facts are title of the artwork, period style, date, and location. Sometimes she also requires you to know the artists...

You need to go to class. She takes roll every session. Her lectures are a little boring and sometimes you have to struggle to stay awake because the lights are usually off. You really need to study her slides and the definitions she gives you because the class is really a bunch of memorizing works of art. Do the work, come to class, pass

Worst class I've ever taken in college. I thought it was going to be an easy A with it being art but it was anything but easy.

Dr. Crown is a wonderful teacher. She really knows her stuff. I, personally, saw eye to eye with her because of our mutual love for art history. Her tests were subjective but not difficult. She's very straight forward but it still entertaining. LOVE LOVE LOVED her class. I'd take her class every semester if I could!

She's very personable and memorizes everyone's name in the lecture hall. She's very sweet and I find her lectures very interesting and informative. I got away with never reading the book-- the slides are enough. She tells you the truth early on, its not an easy class. Be prepared to study and memorize dates if you want to do well!

If you have another option for 2101, take it. I wouldn't recommend this class. Requires a LOT of work, and the teacher isn't particularly good at teaching the material. Last semester, she screwed up our grades more than once, and we all suffered for it.

If you expect to do well: don't miss class, take good notes, and memorize. Most of her quizzes/tests are from the powerpoints & notes in class. I did work hard to memorize and review notes to secure my A. Dr Crown is a tough cookie, but fair and kind. Whenever I approached her she cared about what I had to say.Be sure to do all extra credit offered

Don't take Dr. Crown, esp. if you aren't an art history major. Lectures are dull and technically-focused, disorganized, typos and errors add to the confusion. Tests are mostly subjective and she expects extensive prior ARTH knowledge. Lots of reading if you want to keep up. Papers are 2-4 pg not bad but require lots of research. Arduous class

States at the beginning that a B from her is very impressive. An A is extremely hard and will require countless hours memorizing dates, names, places, terms, ect. Your closest friends during this class will be the flashcards you make. But it can be done - I got an A+... She is a hard, no-nonsense teacher and will weed out the weak students early.

She demands too much for a general course. She is by far the worst art hist teacher. Very boring, I guarantee you will fall asleep in the first 5 mins of her lecture. I did not get what she was trying to teach, very unorganized. It was a mistake to take her, will not do it again.

She is very nice but class was a bit unorganized and there were misspellings, etc, probably because grad students do a lot of the work. There is also an excessive amount of writing for undergrad classes. One of the reviews said that the study guide was helpful. What study guide??? We got no study guide.

She is extremely organized and has a sense of humor. I slept thru every single class but she joked about it as long as you're respectful. She's extremely knowledgeable about the subject and lists exactly the monuments you need to know for the test. Her study guides are indispensable for the the test. she gives you what you need

I love this teacher! She knowns exactly what she's talking about, excellent teacher, I've learned the most from this teacher. The work load is slim to none, just massive studying. This class isn't hard if you do what she says and actually sit down and study for a reasonable amount of time. She's very nice and understanding!

Don't take her! Not only is she boring and unorganized but she doesn't hold herself to the level she olds her students, and she lets her assistant students grade her papers, and they grade them all wrong! And she won't fix it unless you spot it.

She boring, so its really hard to stay awake. She is a mess in class. She has issues with her projector, and she never can work it correctly. The quizzes aren't too hard, but the tests are just evil. You have to study way ahead of time for the test or yeah you just might fail. She laughs at her own stupid jokes too.
