Jordan knows his stuff, and his classes are very interesting. He'll keep you engaged if your head isn't off daydreaming about the next "Twilight" sequel. I never saw him wear the Karl Marx as alleged by another reviewer. The guy is definitely pretty far left, but as a conservative I give him props for always keeping the debate free and open.

Unlike his UIC colleague Nicole Jordan, he graded fairly. But, like most UIC history and poli sci professors, he is a hardcore Marxist/communist. He used to come to class every day wearing a red T-shirt with a big image of Karl Marx on the front, which I found extremely offensive, considering how many millions died due to Marx's evil ideology.

i agree, its definitely not a blow off class. but i have to disagree on the quality of the class. his lectures are pretty bare bones, does not easily facilitate note writing (i think he only went up to the board 2 times the whole semester), or discuss the readings in depth. never evens stands up to lecture, which makes trying to stay awake hard.

I, also, am a professor. I have been teaching for many years in New York. I thank God every day that I was fortunate enough to have taken Dr. J. I am rated on this site also and my "score" is a 4.9! I know that I owe this 'rating' to him because I have modeled my teaching style after what I had observed while I was HIS student. My students sta

Good luck with this one. When he gets on his high horse, forget about class that day. Not a blow off course, like others have said, because he loads you down with work. You need to be on the right side of his bias, or else you will struggle with grades.

I had him many years ago. I then went on and got a Ph.D. myself (not in history). I now teach at the college level myself. Take it from a teacher who has "been there": Jordan is a real pro; he's an excellent teacher & scholar.

Sharp and brilliant mind. Be prepared to think, learn, and be challenged. Not easy or blow-off at all. But if you want to learn, this is the place and this is the man. Study under Jordan and you're working with the best there is. 'Nuff said!
