I took this class just because he taught it. I loved the classes I took with him before. I learn so many new things from him. He's an excellent professor and always encourages you to express yourself and your own style in your art. Wish he taught more classes at UH. I would take them all!

This is one of the best art classes I have taken for to different reasons: the teacher and the projects. Fred is one of the nicest and most helpful art teachers at UHM. He lets you be an individual but also helps guide you in the right direction. As for the projects, I have made things I plan to keep for a very long time! Take this class!

So awesome! He is so funny because half the time he doesnt know whats going on. When you ask for help he will basically do your work for you. Doesnt care about attendance either as long as you laugh with him.

Those past reports are right on the dot. I went into the class without any expectations or ideals, and came out glowing and brimming with the priceless way he grooms and places ideas into form. I love Fred -- Yes, he is "the man"! Nobody in our class could deny it; even the most brutally honest person in class vouched for him through and through.

Absolutely fantastic professor. Has a great teaching method and sense of humor, and is a huge inspiration. He's extremely dedicated and will always make time to help you outside of class. I wish he taught every course in the curriculum! Just a very cool guy.

One of the best instructors in the art department. He allows you to work on your own creativity, encourages you to think critically and expects his students to reach their full potential. Really witty guy. Just have a conversation with him one day~ he's pretty "down" with the generation. :) Relaxed and laid back, but don't take advantage of his generosity or kindness.. he'll see right through you.

Awesome professor. Class is interesting and inquizitive. Fred is very supportive and allows you to learn from your own mistakes. He doesn't try to force any technique upon you but will instead hint of a better way to go at it and allows you to do your own thing. Very pleasent guy to talk to in the morning and doesn't mark you off for being late even though he says he will. He grades leniently based upon the amount of effort put forth. If I could I would take the class again. Great learning experience.

Prof Roster was the reason why I decided to go into Sculpture. He has an unassuming way of teaching - he only gives you so much to run by because it is his intention for students to think critically about their artwork. His demos are always informative.
