She is a great history teacher, she is very passionate about what she teaches. Is there a lot of work, and test? Yes, but this is college, not high school, so get used to it. She is always available if you need help, she will literally take time from her own schedule to help you if you ask. I would definitely recommend her for history.

I took her class and did quite well. HOWEVER, I have been at a 4 year university for a year now and I have never ever experienced a teacher like her. You are not suppose to use peer grading and even if you are, don't knock our grades down even more. She is unfair ALTHOUGH I would agree she is very interested in the material.

Dr.Overacker is a brilliant passionate teacher who accepts nothing less than excellence from her students. She stretched me intellectually and I worked hard in her classes when I was her student. I am teaching now, mainly because of Dr. Overacker. Ingrid is a top quality professor and is an under appreciated asset to this school.

Comment:
I had Overacker for a few history classes in the late 90s- and largely because of her I am now a college professor. She's tough, no-nonsense, and brings different points of view, which I really needed when I started college. Then I was intimidated by the work, but her requirements prepared me for university level work more than all others at JCC.

Overracker wasn't an unfair teacher or anything her workload was just HARD. She expected a lot, and if you're just starting college I recommend not taking her for your first semester, unless you want to commit suicide.

outstanding professor, love teaching history, does have very strong views and opinions on her understanding of history but will listen to yours as well. one of the most enlightening teachers i've ever had. you will do a lot of work and writing in her class but it is well worth the reward you will get from her class. if your lazy, stay away.

Great professor. It's wonderful to have a prof who has an obvious love for the subject they teach. Be prepared to do a lot of writing, especially for the online course.

Probably cried when the USSR dissolved. Thinks Michael Moore is a paragon of scrupulously-researched veracity. Did she ever stop to think where the world would be without the technological contributions of those damned, straight uptight whites? USA & western world=BAD!USSR,Venez,Cuba,sub-Saharan Africa & UN=GOOD! O's fav TV show="I Love Lenin."

Great teacher! She made this semester great. She knows the material, not just what is in the book. Take notes and read the assignments (only one chapter a week), do the take home tests, and get the essays rewritten and you are home free. There is very little work in this class if you pay attention to her vibrant lectures. She is wonderful!

WOw! I hate history and have always done poorly until now. She really knows what she is talking about and passes that energy on to the students. She is fair in her grading and only assigns homework once a week. Do what she asks of you and you will be sure to do great. Need help? She is there to talk and answer questions. Unbelievable!

The book she assigns, might as well have been written by Howard Zinn or Noam Chomsky. So blinded by the modern Liberal mindset of political correctness she loses many aspects of true history.Arrogant and stuck in the 1960s mindset she is the posterchild for the liberal close minded professor.Check out the whole "anti white man" post aka her fanbase.

Dr Overacker is the best prof ever! For all of you who rated her poorly, you have a rude awakening if you are considering further higher education. And by the way...there is more to history that what rich, white men had to say! she teaches that people aren't sheep - dont believe everything you read you idiots! put thought into your papers too!!

This class requires A LOT of reading and writing. It is a great class for LEARNING. Those who choose to say nasty things probably just didn't do what was assigned. Everything is pretty sraight forward and she is always available to help.ASK QUESTIONS!!! She will answer pretty much anything you ask, that is the best way to get a good grade.

If you fail to include the impact of any historic event as it affected gays, lesbians, blacks & other minorities in your essays, you will never get higher than a "C". Should be teaching in Pyongyang or Havana. I'm sure she would be happier there.

Very hard to please. She grades her work unfairly. I am suprised to still see her there. She is basically impossible to please and her directions for her essay requirements are scant and not organized. I would give her a 1

This teacher requires that you do ALOT of reading/writing weekly regarding the homework, the thing though is other students grade it so sometimes they grade below what they should. However you can always just bring your homework to her and shell re-correct it. She really makes the course stressful.

The class is as easy as students make it. Do the reading and answer the questions in own words. Her homework is meant to help you on the exams so dont care if you dont get 3s. Dont prejudge cuz she is nice. People who are bitter are LAZY.
