At the beginning of the semester, he was great. But over time he grows full of himself and never responds to questions. Hell see four or five hands up wanting to ask a question but ignore them. He doesnt tell you your grade until the end of the semester, and is in general an unpleasant man. He is so caught up in his opinions, hes NOT good at all

Professor Skillings is brilliant. He uses history a lot in his lectures on literature. The negative comments are from students who want an easy pass and dont want to learn anything. You need to work for your grade in his classes. You will learn things that will stay with you forever. He is a true professor in every sense. I will never forget hIm.

Comment:

Very passionate guy and a great human being, absolutely loves what he is doing and makes it easy to listen to him. Would talk for the sake of talking and not teaching (mostly), I often found myself after taking notes and being invested in his lectures still having no idea what was expected of me on his assignments.

I hated taking a class with him. If you don't share his opinion, or at least pretend, you will get straight 80's or less. His "focus paper" assignments force you to write borderline run-on sentences -- in fact they are largely encouraged. His viewpoints are clearly and overly conservative. He should retire, I think he is past his days of relevance.

Gives good feedback on essays and he was great the first two days of class. However after that he simply stopped teaching and started focusing on topics totally unrelated to our course. His expectations were never clear and I often had no idea what he was looking for. I never want to take another one of his classes. Avoid his class.

you never know what's going to to come out of his mouth. No matter what, he is passionate and loves teaching. If you can stay awake and follow along, it will be great. but fall asleep and give only 50% and he will fail you so fast.

I had Skillings over the summer for a History course. He was a really insightful teacher but takes some getting used to. I would recommend him if you are deeply interested in the subject he is teaching.

He does think its his world. Very rude person, its all about him instead of the student. Not the way to be in life. He needs to have ethics, which he doesn't. I'd like to see a dramatic improvement in his personality,Its pretty poor. His personality is absolutely despicable. He is a very despicable person. Think twice before talking to this guy.

He is a very rude person. Needs to be more respectful to students. The comments he says are very hard to take in. This is the kind of person you would easily lose your temper around sense he is so rude and disrespectful. My recommendations is he needs to work on respect, take ethics again.

Professor skillings is seriously the best teacher at this craphole they call an institution. For students who actually want to learn, and are ready for a real college level class, this is it. Sure, a lot of his lectures get side-tracked; but they are never invaluable, and I personally will remember some things that he taught for the rest of my life

Skillings is the best english teacher i have ever had. I had him 3 time at Dean. In ENG 100 he actually taught me how to write correctly and prepared me for my next college. I never knew how to write before I had him. His class is challenging but if you try hard and focus you will benefit a lot from his classes. BTW never text in his class.

Amazing teacher. I could listen to him talk all day and his class is very challenging and engaging.
