His tests are extremely hard, but there is plenty of chances for extra points. I really enjoyed the style of teaching and the exploring of biochemistry that it made us do without being spoon fed the information.

Dr. Shriver is an excellent professor. He has unusual philosophies about teaching, but they are all for the student's benefit. He expects a lot of his students, but if he sees you working hard, he will do everything in his power to help you succeed. I would recommend his class to anyone who is self-motivated and cares about learning.

Great class, great professor, I would recommend to any student taking this course. The course work is difficult but there are plenty of opportunities he gives to improve your grade. All in all a great professor!

Dr. Shriver is a great teacher. The course work is very difficult, but I would not have asked to have any other professor for biophysical chemistry. Dr. Shriver is always there to help and clarify the subject. If you get Dr. Shriver as your professor consider yourself lucky because you will be learning from a very knowledgable professor that cares

if he taught...maybe it would be alright...but given the circumstances-he is simply unreasonable! avoid him. you can pick up any textbook and teach it yourself.he doesnt teach. doesn't care if the students are progressing. AVOID!

He does 'belittle' his students. He expects student participation in class but his methods are 'fear-induced' learning because noone wants to be humiliated by him if one doesn't understand something. at the end everyone is scared not to fail. His teaching methods are impossible.

this is the worst professor I have ever taken. I do not recommend him to anyone. He really cares none about the students and if they are learning. he is condescending enjoys students not doing well on his tests. His bad teaching actually accounts for bad grades on his tests. He is really one of the worst professors at UAH

He only teaches formula derivations in class and asks you to use the obscure formulas (that he doesn't give you) on the test. He belittles his students with comments such as "Well, you should just read the book if you don't get it." or "Go read it again" his homework hints are things like "You should know that, it's elementary" GET A TUTOR.
