Comment:

Dr. Carver is awesome. She is extremely engaging, and you can tell she is knowledgeable and passionate about what she teacher. She's more than happy to answer any questions thoroughly, and is a professor who is approachable. This class is really hands on, and it feels more like a discussion than a lecture. For sure one of my favorite profs!

Comment:

Chill and humorous teacher. Lecture slides can be all over the place at times but she explains the concepts pretty well with hands-on activities. both books are not required since her exams are mainly based on lecture. but itll come in handy for the essay portion of the exams. 8 pg research paper due at the end of the quarter.

Dr. Carver is awesome. Her lectures are engaging and interesting. She really knows her field and it definitely shows through the material. There's always room for questions and she always answers them thoroughly. It feels more like a discussion than a lecture which makes the class a lot more enjoyable. Hands down my favorite teacher so far!

She is so nice and helpful. you will learn a lot in her class. BUT if you want work in her lab, think again; her LAB COORDINATOR SUCKS. she is so RUDE and SELFISH. I don't know why Dr. Carver lets this girl to coordinate her lab. DO NOT take 199 with dr. Carver because you have to deal with her lab coordinator.

She may seem hard to approach, but once you show your interest in the subject she really helpful in explaining the material. She helped me a lot to prepare my debate part and spent time in out of office hours. Great teacher and has a lot of experience to count on from her own lab.

Prof. Carver is a great professor! Although sometimes dry & a little boring, she knows the topic really well & can answer pretty much any question! She reviews in class before both midterms & the final, & the tests are very straightforward. She is very willing to help with the 8-10 pg. research paper, which isn't bad unless you procrastinate!

Interesting class. However she often says things that don't quite click and will lose her place. not very organized. My biggest problem was that she was SO sarcastic and unapproachable. Big research project only hard if you procrastinate!

She can give several examples for every concept. She's very smart and patient along with helpful. Her tests are harder than most because they're all essays and challenging at times, but she is generous in partial credit. I'd take another class with her. Her TA Laura is cool too. Always cheerful.

The brain can be very confusing to learn about, but Leslie really tried to help us understand it. There is a lot of material to cover because of the subject matter, but her tests were not hard and she was a very fair grader. As long as you dedicate a bit of time to studying and attend class, getting an A is not hard. She's terrific!

This is a great class if you are not afraid of writing some essays. The material is clear and easy to follow. Great woman, and an interesting class. Bring Play-doh!!!!
