Comment:
Maduro is a great professor. If you have no interest in the course then you will obviously not read the text book and do poorly on the exam. The exams are curved but not impossible to do well on. Attend class, read the text book and ask questions and there is no reason you will not receive at least an A-

Class was almost 60% group/participation based, so you need to show up somewhat regularly and make presentations. He is a great prof, but his final exam didn't have a single question covered in the final review, which was a curveball. He responds to e-mails quickly and if he likes you, you'll be fine.

Cares about structure of the class,is always helpful and willing to answer questions. Go to class, listen, take notes. The final seems hard but it's not -STUDY. Dr. Maduro has tons of experience and he understands how to help when you need it. Great class to take

Large class but prof structured the course for a smaller number. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Final was more difficult than thought, especially as he wanted you to study a specific way(which actually helped in writing the exam)

Marks assignments incredibly easy but the final requires cover to cover knowledge of the textbook which was impossible to say the least. He asked a previous student to describe his final style to the class, quote: "you'll think your failing but dont worry everyone else is to."

This class was a waste of time. He is an incredibly easy marker, but it was torture going to class. I wasted my money taking this course. He would spend 15% of the class time talking about the material and the rest was on whatever he felt like. Exam had a few curve balls. It ended up being more of a history class than polisci.

POLS 461 at Grant MacEwan. International law. easy class. make sure to read text book and attend all classes. pay attention to charts, and articles. if you put in that effort, you will easily succeed. some classes may be dry, but info good. would recommend.

Obsessed with the northwest passage. A bit of a neocon who referred to Saskatchewan as a Marxist province. Probably a very nice man but not a great prof.

Doesn't take other viewpoints than realism seriously. Thank god I took IR from other people or else I'd have a pretty narrow view of the field! Not a good start to my IR studies.

THE KIND OF INSTRUCTOR WHO THINKS HE'S GOD & MAKES YOUR LIFE HELL IF YOU DON'T WORSHIP AT HIS FEET. ARROGANT INSTRUCTORS LIKE THIS TURN ME OFF ON SCHOOL. THICK TEXTBOOK. HE EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW EVERY LINE OF IT & WILL TEST QUITE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE MOST OBSCURE CRAP. I PAID HOW MUCH FOR THIS****TY CLASS?

Uses a very dense textbook. Unfortunatley exam questions are not general, but instead quiz very specific facts from the textbook. Lots of reading. Knowing the material is less likely to get you a pass than luck.

Compared to instructors I've had for previous Poli Sci classes...Mr.Maduro leaves much to be desired. My class is too big, that is not his fault. But rather than teach us the coarse material he divided our class into groups and we all "become experts" on a specific topic and present it to the class. This is how 2/3 of my semester was spent.

i missed an entire week of class only to find out i hadn't missed a thing. lectures are hit and miss; sometimes they're useful, and sometimes he drags on and on about issues unrelated to the course outline. sometimes you just wanna say "pick it up, already!"... you could sleep through and not miss a beat.

Nice guy, interesting and easy-to-understand material. Nevertheless the class average was a 2.1. It's a bit ruthless: if you don't know the answer to any short answer question on a test, it essentially takes 2% off your final grade (he wants details). Make sure to go to every class to collect the info, and you won't have to bother with the text.

Great class! A wonderful man. While many political science professors tend to make lectures longwinded and complicated, Dr. Maduro's class is simple and informative. The material is not difficult nor confusing and Dr. Maduro is always willing to meet outside of class. Take his course. You'll be happy you did it.

It was torture having to listen to his drab, dry and completely irrelevant lectures about newspaper clippings. Dont bother coming to lecture...read your texts (if you wish) because his exams are easy sleazy. My final consisted of 20 short answer.

Thought he was a good prof until I took more advanced classes. HE DOESN'T TEACH HALF THE TOPICS THEORIES!!! He only gives you a slanted realist perspective that's completely skewed. If you think you've gotten all you need about IR from him, THINK AGAIN!
