I loved how straight forward Professor Weston's class was, you knew exactly what you needed to do each week. All of the quizzes and assignments were more than fair. This class had nothing to do with my major but I actually really enjoyed it. Definitely take if you need to fulfill your arts requirement!

Mr. Weston is my favorite teacher! His lectures are the best every class I walk out of there learning so much. Hes such an easy-going person too making the class fun. I already got accepted by a few four-year but Im seriously considering deferring for a semester so I can finish my Harmony and Musicianship 3 with him!

This class had nothing to do with my major, yet professor Weston is simply the best. As long as you follow the step-by-step directions for each weeks lecture, and actually pay attention you'll pass. You do not need any "rock history" knowledge, the video lectures cover everything you need to know for quizzes and exams.

This was a great class! I actually learned a lot about artists I thought I knew. Mr. Weston gives awesome lectures. He makes the online class so easy to navigate. He posts all of the links you need. Very organized. I can't say enough good things about him.

Comment:

Extremely intelligent musician. Highly revered by students. Very genuine open and humorous. Easy to connect to on a personal level and is very accommodating. I took harmony at IVC and professor Luzko is a joke compared to Weston.

Took online 6 week class, super easy! Focus on participation and midterm. Final was a powerpoint and the class was really interesting, and asks for alot of different perspectives. He respects all opinions and is very quick to respond to emails. Easy lectures, never even bought a textbook. Take it if you need to boost your gpa.

Weston is one of my all time favorite professors. I used to hate learning theory and he made it so understandable and enjoyable I wish I could retake the harmony courses with him. He is extremely helpful and really cares about his students. I've taken most of his classes not because I needed to, but because he is a fun and great teacher.

Norm is an extremely understanding professor with the knowledge to open your eyes to the world of music. If you have any confusion he is easy to talk to and will do what he can to help. You have to put in your part and ask. In harmony he doesn't assign textbook reading; he provides topic handouts. But reading relevant chapters will help immensely.

I just wanted to give Mr. Weston his due. His course in Harmony opened my eyes INSTANTANEOUSLY to the world of music theory, and illuminated many blindspots simultaneously. Even the first day, many things became clear. A fantastic teacher, with a sincere interest not only in the subject but also making sure you learn it. 350 character is not enough

Took him for Music 1 and loved it! He is a very charming professor and loves his job. If you need help he will gladly help you and sometimes he gives everyone 100% for quizzes and homework. Prof. Weston makes music fun and interesting! Take him!

Do not take him for music 1!! He he a horrible way of explaining things and looks for no feedback to ensure the class is following. I have a 3.6 GPA and this is by far the worst teacher I've ever had.

Words cannot describe my confusion reading his other positive ratings. Norm is all over the place. While it is clear he knows the subject matter he doesn't have the slightest clue how to teach. 50% of the class is entirely lost and he doesn't take the time to explain it.

I joined Harmony at Saddleback because I found the Harmony course at IVC impossible. Norm made Harmony so much more accessible and understandable. Every topic is taken at a very manageable pace and he is always open to questions. Looking forward to taking more theory, musicianship, and composition courses with this professor.
