The best class in the school. Best teacher. Dr. Lasher is very knowlageble, has a very good taste of music, masters the art of teaching and also has a amiable, warm personality. The content of the course is extremely help. I learned so much and would still take it again.

Comment:

Easily one of the best teachers I ever had. He has a passion and clarity for explaining Bach and Brahms that one cannot find anywhere else. Study with him at Juilliard or in Paris at EAMA. It will have an enormous influence on your composing and/or performance.

Comment:

Advanced Counterpoint is a more interesting class than Harmony. Despite some very tedious activities, the class overall will provide a strong technical command of areas explored. Dr. Lasser's analysis of repertoire works is the best part of the class. His perspective is unique and valuable.

Since no one harbors a true interest in learning the science of counterpoint, this class will most likely not disappoint you. If however, you wish to obtain the skills and fluency that a mere copyist obtains, this class will simply not provide it. Hypothetical ventures into limiting activities will keep you from developing basic technique.

I wasn't even half as thankful for these classes when I was in them as I am now. I don't think there's anyone who can teach Counterpoint or Harmony more concisely than Dr. Lasser.
