First impression was that she was intimidating. I can say that she is my favorite instructor at CSUN. She is tough, but clear on her expectations. She really pays attention to students and their mindsets. She can tell when something doesn't make sense and will take time to make it clear. Talk to her, she has a lot of info and willing to share it!

Dr. Chong is very knowledgeable about her subject and content area, however she can be very condescending and downright rude to students who ask questions or do not understand. She is terse and short in email and in class and does not welcome questions. She will make you feel dumb for asking one. She's smart, but she has a very cold attitude.

Very easy class. Dr. Chong is not strict and will give you an A as long as you attend her classes and do what she expects you to do. In order to pass the RICA you need a lot of self-control and a great ability to study on your own, as she just provides you with information and never actually tests your knowledge of the subject.

She does not practice what she teaches. She expects her students to read her mind. She is rude, mean, and thinks all of her students are stupid if they ask a question in class. While she does have a great way of giving examples, she seems to have an arrogance about her that makes her hard to approach.

Prof. Chong makes this class harder than it has to be. I was stressed the whole semester! I got an A but I can't say how. SHE DOES NOT REPEAT HERSELF OR CARE if people understand her instructions. Reading the text is a must! She is VERY knowledgeable but is kinda useless cause she almost refuses to help students. Info is useful for the RICA!

Unfair, conceited, unfriendly, and will cause you to sigh frequently during class and after. Does not take questions, suggestions, comments, or advise from students. Although the selection among professors is not the best, I would not recommend her.

AVOID! I have never been so frustrated, confused, and disappointed with a teacher. The expectations from this teacher are ambiguous at best. If you must take this class, ask questions at the begining of the semester. Be consistent, and pushy about assignments, because she will not explain anything! Instead, expect mundane and meaningless activitie

I took this class in summer '08, and took the RICA Feb '09. Didn't even have to study for the RICA, but passed with +++ or ++++. She prepares you fully for the test. She is not approachable; She is intimidating, and not very patient, but you can learn a lot from her. DON'T BE LATE TO HER CLASS! It WILL lower your grade.

If you want to learn how to be an effective teacher and write lesson plans that will help you in the future, do not take this class! Horrible! The instructor is very condescending; she likes to criticize people that she thinks cannot speak English properly, yet she does not know how to use articles before nouns when speaking or writing. Stay away!

I took this class during the summer and it's the hardest I ever worked. But Dr. Chong has so much knowledge and I learned so much. I found her work ethic, knowledge, and creativity very inspiring. If you have to take the RICA she will prepare you. I recommend this for anyone willing to work hard.

Not at all flexible, will not work with you to rectify a dilema your having. Not a facilitator of learning more like an overlord.

Dr. Chong was a very interesting and creative lecturer. She was well prepared. I learned a lot. At first I thought I was going to hate this class, but ending up loving it. Reading is a must! Assignments are writing 3 lesson plans and a case study (she has very high expectations of lesson plans & can be nitpicky). If you're in this class... read!!!

Prof. Chong's instructions on completing the portfolio were crystal clear. I wish I could say the same about my first Student Teaching Seminar course (Prof. Hertzog). She's a generous grader who assigns few out-of-class activities. The drawback: she's far from patient, but this was a non-issue for me because I rarely ask questions.

She gave me an A. But she is so full of herself. She will smile at you pretending to like you but it's all about how good she should look to other profs. She is not clear and so boring. You really don't learn anything new.
