Comment:

Since when i stepped into NEIU I have taken him many times until my last final field work class. T.Y knows his material he is a great professor you would learn a lot in his lectures. It all depends in the course class you take some are more papers then exams or a variety of both. Exams can be tricky but just read carefully and you'll be fine.

Comment:

He is funny, class was very interesting. I felt respected by this prof, everytime I had questions, he would repeat again and make you I got it. One final group project about 8pgs, 4 quizzes were pretty tricky, but these were all from what learned in class, make sure make notes of everything on board. No textbooks really used.

TY is an excellent professor, period. I have taken several classes with him and have always gotten A's. His class always requires twice as much time as any other class-it's not difficult material, just a lot of work to keep up with. He assigns long papers and you have to participate in class, that's it. But don't argue, he wants you to repeat.

This professor is terrible. He has a high failure rate. He assigns group papers and tests has trick questions. An example would be a multiple choice question. What is social justice with possible answers be a fair distribution of resources, an equal distribution of resources, or none of the above . Would throw tantrum if you disagreed

You have to be REALLY into Justice Studies to enjoy this class. He goes back and forth on a lot he says and talks more then he listens. He does too many group projects. We did a group research paper, and a group final exam. So your grade depends on other people, not on what you do.

TY will challenge you. Get ready to write and research and then write some more. Apartheid is something close to his heart, so you better learn SA history any way you can. If you don't ask questions, participate meaningfully, don't bother. I did more work for this class to get an A than I did for my whole educational experience.

This is not an easy class. The teacher is very ignorant to a lot of people. His quizes/tests are not what he taught you. He expects too much from full-time students. I would consider him good for an honors class. You will regret taking a class with him. Your research topic for your final 12 page paper will NOT be easy. You will barely pass.

TY is a treasure for NEIU. He keeps things lighthearted even when discussing difficult topics. He does not phone it in like other professors, and you have to be there. To be clear: he is difficult, but also reasonable. Get your big girl/boy pants on before taking him. The complaints I see on him look like people expecting easy A's, not with TY.

He is the worst teacher. He is very arrogant and closed minded. . The class would ask a question and he could not explain it to us and he became irritated. He would stop at nothing to finish a chapter even if we were not clear on it. Majority of the class got Ds because if he gave us Fs everyone would fail and the board would know something was up.

He is a great teacher and very hard. Whatever grade you get will be what you earned. I will say he's an excellent teacher and is challenging. I recommended him if you want to learn something, but don't think you're gonna skate through this class.

He was not easy, his tests - all math, very high math. He did only a theory at lectures, but all test were only complicated math problems! You need to be passionate in order to receive a good grade, also you need to conserve a lot of time and energy for this class

HORRIBLE. WORST TEACHER EVER. SIGNED UP FOR SKILLS FOR INQUIRY A MANDATORY CLASS FOR MY MAJOR. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A MATH CLASS. WHICH OTHER TEACHERS DO NOT TEACH THE CLASS LIKE THIS. Comment:

No textbook, lecture only! If you aenot there then you miss out! Relaxed environment but don't take that as professor that isn't passionate about his field! This is his forte so if you think your gonna text, talk or slack then don't bother! I learned so much! Highly recommend if you want to pursue this field you better take this class-eye opening!

We barely had homework assigned however I can say I learned the most from this class. If you don't have an interest in justice studies or philosophy, then don't take this class. I loved it though!

I took this as a summer class and thought it would be pretty laid back since its a 101 course. He wanted one 6 pg paper every week until the final exam. He changed his mind often & contradicted himself a lot. Don't bother sending him an e-mail b/c he probably won't respond. His comments can be controversial. He was ok, but not recommended.

He knows his stuff. But he is very picky with grading. He keeps class entertaining but he makes it seem like whites (specifically males) are to blame for all the problems in the world and for people failing at life... Kind of annoying... but otherwise he's a cool teacher.

When I first attended this class I thought T.Y. was interesting. But if you really listen to him he contradicts himself a lot. So much so that most of my class started to research what he said in class for validity. Otherwise the class was ok and he is grading is confusing. He didn't seem to like when students did not agree with his point of view.
