He is a cool guy and very knowledgeable. Even though his exam is hard sometimes, but he curves really a lot, like a 75/100 could still be a A in my class. What I want to say is as long as you work hard, you will have a decent grade in his class.

Tharp doesn't teach you anything to do with Geography. He has taught us about economics sociology anthropology & military. He's an extremely intelligent man but an absolutely terrible GEOGRAPHY teacher because he doesn't teach you any GEOGRAPHY. The tests are ridiculously hard and impossible to study for. Unless you HAVE to, do NOT take this class.

The title of the class is geography. Mr. Tharp failed to teach me anything about geography this semester. The tests are just about impossible to study for and are extremely difficult. A class of over 100 students has dwindled to less than 30 and it's only halfway through the semester. The worst teacher I have ever had.

I hardly attended class because all the notes where on blackboard, there was so much information that had to be remembered for the exams. It is possible to do really well as some of my friends got really good grades, but I found the exams tough and did completely bombed them, hopefully there's a curve.

Intro to Geography sounds easy, but certainly is not. Tharp is a fairly nice guy,and extremely knowledgable on the material. His classes are pretty boring, but I do recommend going. Only grades were the 3 tests, which were very difficult and tested over specific details. He doesn't give any guidance there, so try to get old exams from someone.

The tests can be pretty difficult, however he gives you a huge study guide at the beginning of the semester and all the questions on the 3 tests are in it. He takes attendance 3 times randomly and the class is pretty boring. GO TO THE REVIEW SESSIONS! he tells you every study guide question if you ask, they are very helpful.

Tharp is pretty cool. He seems like he'd be a cool guy outside of class, definitely very smart. Downfall is that exams are really hard, but he doesn't take attendance. He's not a bad guy but yes the class is hard.

Do not take this class if your life depends on it. The class is boring, the tests are very hard, and the professor does not help you study for the exams AT ALL - he admits it, too. Very hard to follow and to know what to prepare for the tests.

The fact you are looking on here means you should not take this course. True there is a huge curve but that does not always help when you do not know whats on the exam. Also very boring class. Prof Tharp also not willing to help

In all seriousness, he is not helpful regarding tests. All assignments except last one are very easy. Tests are easy if you study due to the 25%+ curves. Take this course if your interested or if you study well. If not, I suggest you not take this course as most people are lazy...

This class is a joke. He could not care less how you did in the class, all he was worried about was being able to research his rocks with Purdue's lab equipment and space. He said that his review sessions, that students would not be able to ask questions about anything pertaining to the exam. Please stay away from this class if you can. Horrible

Reads directly from dry notes. Offers hardly any visual material. Refuses to use mic in large lecture hall. I love Geography. Tharp made this class miserable. He is very hostile and introverted. He clearly is here to do research. Teaching, evidently, is the cross he must bear in order to get lab space and a salary. He loathes teaching and people

The lectures are very dry and he doesn't give notes on the sections of the book that he's written (1/4-1/3 of content). The worst part for me is that he acts helpless in regards to the exam. He curves, which saved me, but he refuses to answer questions about the exam and he put it, "I write hard exams." Definitely avoid this class if you can.

His class is pretty boring and its true that slides are shown very rarely but, this is not a hard class at all. If you go to lecture or even have the lecture notes and look over them from two hours for the exam, an A is easily possible. This isn't physics or a genetics course which are truly difficult. If you have an interest in this class take it.

Lecture would be better if he used power point for his lectures His exams are really not difficult at all. He asks basic questions from his lecture so if you attend lecture and study and A is easily possible. I really don't understand why people are complaining so much. They should take micro or genetics so they really understand what hard is.

People completely over exaggerate. I am not interested in science and still got an A, you can get like 20% on the test and it be curved to a C.The people ****ing are probably the people that never went or walked out in the middle of him talking.

Basically you copy notes off of an overhead for the whole entire power hour. The exams are insanely hard. He puts the most detailed, useless information on the exams. If it wasn't for the cute guy I sat next to, I would have died in this class!

Do not take this class unless you absolutely have to...no matter what anyone says this is not an easy science class. Crazy hard exams, dull lectures and a professor that is unwilling to help make this class a horrible idea
