I'm pretty good at math and tested above math 111 but I took the class with Monroe and really struggled. He is willing to help outside of class however he doesn't seem to enjoy it. Math 111 is a REALLY fast paced class in general, and this guy goes through material without time to explain in depth. If you have to take this, use the tutoring center!

Comment:

Tough grader. Tests are no where near as easy as homework. Boring lectures. Gives study guides. Does not grade hw but gives one assignment every week which is graded. If you can figure out math on your own take this class. Harder chapters go as fast as easy ones which means you have to ask for help and grind hard to understand them.

Comment:

Do the problem your way he will take off points even if it is right. Have to show work. You have to focus hard to follow him on lectures. One thing that I noticed is that I get two grades on my papers, for example 4.5 out of 5 and its crossed out and second one next to it is 3.5 out of 5. Makes mistakes during lectures. I would not recommend.

Great teacher. Straight to the point. He gives homework almost every night (I took the daily class), but it's usually a minimal amount. If you want to understand and pass college algebra, take Monroe.

This guy is not lenient at all. Even if you get the right answer, but you don't write every single step down, he will mark points off your grade. Often makes mistakes on the board when doing problems. Don't plan on doing well in his class if you have a job or family, he doesnt answer questions unless drop your life and visit him during HIS hours

He's a great teacher. He gives hw everyday, but the problems are super easy and all the answers are in the book (odd numbers). Write down all the examples in your notes that he does in class and you will do fine on his tests. Great teacher! Loved his class.

If you like to ask math questions, this is not the Professor for you. He does not like to answer questions in class! He tends to get distracted & goes off on tangents that has little to do with material covered in class. He assigns a reasonable amount of work & his grading is fair, although he allows no opportunity for extra credit.

Math 093 is supposedly really hard and I suck at math, but he did a really great job at teaching. You have to show up and do your work to pass. He grades easier if he knows you're giving an honest effort. Great guy. Never thought math would be my favorite subject out of all my classes! Take his class, seriously!

Monroe is an interesting teacher, kind and very clear but he can get a little to into it with the details at times and you can easily get lost if your not careful. Overall a great teacher I would have to say. If you fail his class, its your own fault.

Bill teaches far above the 091 level. He says he is tough. I said ease. Almost 50% of his students failed a chapter test. The test brought a "huh?" when you faced it. He is being reported to the office of instruction for teaching at too high of a level for the 091 class. I asked him to combine tutor style with current instruction style. Seemed open

This class is incredibly hard and the tests are very long. He does explain the problems clearly but when you try to put it into practice on the exams it gets rough. He also lets you use notes for the exam which helps alot.

This guy acts like everyone needs to be a statistician,drowning w/a C sought help,refused stating it wouldn't be fair to others,DROPPED HIM! Took 203+204in summer term A in both You figure. He is a professional statistician if you R majoring in statistics maybe? very sharp but 6+page exams murder. I am not one of his statistics!!! Thank you Prof. D

Very nice, helpful teacher. Funny, too, though usually not intentionally! Explains math in a thorough, uncomplicated way that even I could understand. Highly reccommend him!
