Comment:
While the professor is nice in person, this is an introductory physics class that is VERY deflated. It functions by "anything that can harm you will harm you." The subject matter is pretty interesting, but this is not a well-structured class.

The class itself is interesting, but the tests are incredibly unfair. I feel as though I learned a lot, but it is difficult to demonstrate that knowledge on tests, as it reaches farther than what we have learned in class. He is also difficult to follow and has a very old-school way of lecturing. May have been good in the 80's, but now should retire

I loved being in Prof. Sadoff's class, but his tests were extremely difficult. The subject matter was interesting, and his lectures and book explained it very well, but the exams went so far beyond anything we'd learned in class. And he requires answers word-for-word. Also, your TA really matters-- and frequently they aren't very good.

Prof. Sadoff is really passionate about his work. He loves to take extra time out of his evenings multiple times a week to meet his students for dinner to talk about physics or anything else. He is sometimes a little picky about answers on exams and homework, but it's pass/fail, so the exam/homework grade doesn't matter a whole lot.

A great man and teacher who tries to instill his passion for physics onto his students. Most of the class is based on his book with some stuff from his lectures as well. There is homework and a few exams that require time and effort, but the class isn't anything crazy. That doesn't mean this class is an easy A, though, because it's not.

Warm hearted man with a whack sense of humor. Very passionate about his material & wanted us to know HIS book, word for word. Lectures were more often than the not, WORD FOR WORD of his txtbook. Test questions can be worded VERY poor. Interesting subject until he battered it to a pulp. I say go for it if you're ready to memorize a novel :)

I really enjoyed this class, but none of my classmates seemed to as much as I did. Just read his book, it's like a detailed outline of his lectures. Easy to do well if you read and interesting material. I had no experience in physics and it was very doable. Emphasis on relativity the last 3 weeks which is pretty interesting.

A silly professor past his prime. His arrogance and subjectivity show up where they hurt the most:on exams. Even the TA's don't agree with this man. Go take a fair and at least an interesting science class.

This is for Why is the Sky Blue? He is a really nice guy, and he really cares about making sure that the class is basic, for the people who are not really into science. Overall an interesting class

He is a really nice guy, but his class is really hard. This class should not be worth one credit. It takes too much of your time. Not a fair class overall. Really like the guy, though.

Genuinly tries to interact, which for a big class at Cornell is saying something. Liken him to a less comedic version George Carlin.

I'm the same person who wrote below comment. The prelim today was hard, because I didn't study hard. I think if you study hard this subject, you will get much out of it before taking more harder Quantum mechanics courses. However, you should know that it requires much effort despite of 1 credit. Besides, dinner with the professor everyweek is nice.

It's not a 1 credit course. You should consider the ratings on this page before enrolling. I agree with below. I should have considered that comment, or at least dropped it.

In my opinion this class is a joke. i didn't study for the first pre-lim and beat the mean by 30 points. studied for the second and beat the mean by 50. he teaches you like a five year-old and requires very little of you in terms of actual understanding. The homeworks are easy, my only complaint is that attendance is mandatory.

I dont understand why cornell hired him. His class is a nightmare, I used to be interested in quantum physics and now he just ruined it. Didn't even cover the whole book and i learned nothing useful.

Worst class ever! Sadoff uses his book notes to teach the class, almost word for word. He has to check attendance or no one would ever show up! Tests are infinatly harder than his lectures prepare you for. Soooooo boring!

Sadoff needs to stop recylcing the same course verbatim from the 1980's. Exams have too many questions with arbitrary grading, and many problems whose sole purpose is to test whether you were in lecture on day X. Definetly not as good as I hoped for.

Sadistic Sadoff is the worst professor ever. He is boring, and does not inspire us to learn. His tests are very unfairly graded and have trick questions. The TA's are cool though! :)
