Comment:
I completed this course 8 years ago (what took me so long). I LOVED itobviously, since I'm back 8 years later to offer my thoughts. Dr. Queen was EXTREMELY personable and his lectures were fascinating. Most importantly, he was insightful, responsive, and FAIR! With me, personally, he was particularly longsuffering (I monopolized the Disc. Board).

One of the worst classes. He seemed most interested in proving how Buddhist he was (insert eye roll here) and how amazing he was (complete with slide shows!). He also said some harsh things to a Japanese student that worried a lot of us about that student considering Japanese culture.

I was very impressed with the instructor and the course. Dr. Queen has thirty years of teaching experience and has developed an efficient system of teaching. I knew from the first day of class exactly what was expected of me throughout the semester, which I greatly appreciated. And it was wonderful to have every essay critiqued and commented on.

Comment:
Grading was done entirely by TAs, and seemed almost random at times (and grading was slow, as well). The class was mostly interesting, but the inconsistency really soured the experience for me. The textbooks used were good for the most part, and the reading was essential for the essays and exams. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this course.
